Such as visiting the Grand Canyon, the Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, AND arriving in Los Angeles! Chrissy and I made it safely to our final destination, Westwood, CA! We got in around 4:45 this afternoon, but not before having many adventures! On Thursday, we entered the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park and drove down a scenic road to various lookouts where we photographed the amazing Canyon. At one scenic stop, an Asian couple asked us to take their picture and afterward, the girl nearly got into Chrissy's car thinking it was her own (and Chrissy almost walked to their car as well) and giggling ensued - it was comical but mayhaps you had to be there. We also made one quick stop to the Tusayan Ruins, but the snow masked its essence. (Let ... read more

And we've made it to the Grand Canyon! However, before leaving for the Grand Canyon, Chrissy and I enjoyed seeing parts of Los Lunas and Albuquerque with my cousins Jennifer and Gianna as tour guides. They took us to Blakes Lota Burger to enjoy delicious green chili breakfast burritos followed by a tour of an Indian reservation nearby where Chrissy took some illegal pictures. I'm not sure the reservation was what I expected to see (there was a lack of tepees), but they have cool looking outdoor stone ovens where they bake bread (yes, Chrissy photographed one). Then we drove down Old Route 66 into the Old Town portion of Albuquerque where we walked around and did some souvenir shopping. After a sad goodbye to Jennifer and Gianna, we were off on our way to the ... read more

Actually, we kind of did take a left turn at Albuquerque. We're in Los Lunas at Stefanie's cousin's for the night. Before leaving the OKC hotel, we had make-your-own waffles in the hotel lobby, accompanied by the lovely sound of the desk lady hacking. Then she went out for another smoke. Good choice, honey. We had a wild-goose chase for a car wash before we got started on our trip. It was fruitless, but at least we got to see the crap part of town. Yay! Driving through Oklahoma during the day, we realized that the song from the musical is no lie. There really is wind sweepin' down the plains. It blew our cars all over the place. AND tumbleweeds are real!!! ("Like Jesus," as a billboard in Missouri (I think) stated.) First mini tumblers ... read more

Oklahoma reeks! When we crossed the state line - and I mean right when we crossed the state line - it immediately smelled of burnt onions. Wtf, Okla? So, needless to say, we're safely in lovely Oklahoma. I'm not really sure if it's lovely because it was dark when we got here, but the odoriferous welcome leaves me doubting that possibility. So, before leaving St. Louis this morning, we enjoyed a glorious complimentary breakfast buffet. Who knew we loved biscuits and gravy?! It was the first time having them for both of us, and we loved it. The fresh fruit was nice, too, especially when we knew it was probably going to be fast food later. (It was.) Then we drove on over to the Arch. It was a wicked cold morning, but the Arch looked ... read more

We safely got to St. Louis after a super long day. Before we were even out of Pennsylvania, a rock flew up and put a nick in Chrissy's windshield. 70 between Washington and Ohio is absolutely horrible with potholes. In Ohio, some long-tailed bird dive-bombed Stefanie's car, but she didn't even notice. It went straight for her windows, then pulled up at the last minute. She narrowly escaped a feathery mess. Apparently, we drove past horses rolling around in the snow along the way, but Stefanie was also oblivious to this and just learned about it now at the hotel. Our accommodations at the Sheraton are awesome despite the fact that we have to use the internet in the lobby. We toured the desolate business area of the city and decided that the Arch looks much ... read more

Stefanie and I are moving to Los Angeles in a week! We've got a long week of preparation ahead of us. There are so many people to see in such a short period of time. Our route is planned out, but hotels have yet to be booked. Lots of packing lies ahead, too. Our trip will be about 2430 miles, take 6 days, and span 11 states. I'm excited! And also a little sad.... read more
