After our long drive across the bottom to make it to the West... we made it safely to Perth, Western Australia. We stayed in the city for a couple days to figure out jobs and where we want to go. It is cold and rainy out here which is not ideal. But we found farm work about 9 hours north of Perth where the weather is nicer (the reason we came to this country!) When we were making our way up there the car started to over heat. We took it into a Midas to get checked out - turns out to get it fixed, it would be more than the car is worth! So we decided to scrape it :( sad moment to say goodbye to our car. We wanted to explore the area still ... read more

We have had a lot of adventures since the last blog update and hope that I get all of them for you! I am also slowly updating pictures of our highlights from the trip! Thanks for the patience. I am partially lazy and low on the wifi access. In Cairns, we went up to Cape Tribulation where we walked along the beaches, camped out for the first time and we survived :) booya. We wanted to do an excursion (zip lining or horse back riding) but all of them were booked out the couple days we were there. When we went back to Cairns, we went out on a reef tour for the day. It was amazing - we even saw a sea turtle :) We then got our car checked out before leaving and took ... read more

I have been super slack with this whole blog thing! I am sorry for no new update. We have since left the Sunshine Coast. We were able to get good, constant work on a Strawberry Farm which was good. We ended up working on 2 farms. We worked on an hourly one for a couple weeks in the beginning and then we were able to get more work on another farm. It was contract work meaning we got paid 5 cents a plant to put it in the ground, between 10-19 cents a meter to prune it and $0.94 - $1.37 per kg for picking. We made some good money doing it and a couple buddies. It is tough on your body though - it was like a gym workout every day. We learned a lot ... read more

So it has been a long time since I have updated anything. My bad - I have been enjoying the trip to much. I am probably going to forget something that we have done so I may do another post soon. Since I last posted - we were heading south to Wentworth (super small town inland). We went there for a week to pick oranges and grapes. It was pay for what you pick ($35 per orange bin - which were huge and $0.89 per grape bucket) which we got taxed on, super annoying. We were able to cover our expenses for the week and have a little bit left over. We were going to stay another week - but on the last day of picking I did not like it. I was miserable and the ... read more

Quick update! After 22 hours of time in the air we made it, well except for Scott's luggage (which is getting delivered today!). We flew Toronto - LA - Brisbane which was 19 hours of time in the air and 3 hours lay over in LA. We had an Amazing Race moment running through LAX as we had to change terminals. We ran one way then back again to make a shuttle to get to our gate. We made it with good time to spare :) The flights themselves were alright. We had some turbulence and were able to catch a couple ZZZ's along the way between viewing movies. We arrived safely in Brisbane with a warm welcome of hugs and smiles. We made the 2 hours drive south to Byron Bay to crash for a ... read more

So the adventure is almost here... It has been months in the making. My boyfriend and I have been talking about doing a trip like this since we met almost a year ago. We both wanted to go down to Australia - the best way to do it was on a working holiday visa which will allow us to work and travel at the same time. We want to see everything that the country has to offer and go on several excursions near by (i.e. Fiji, New Zealand, etc). My boyfriend has never been to Australia but this is about my 8th time down there (but I also did 3 years down there for school) so we shall see how it all goes. The planning was a long but exciting process, there was a lot to ... read more
