Wheel Power
Yes Chris you are right, just love the water wheels - they also remind me of a painting that depicts a wooden crane (the Kraanplaats in Bruges circa 15thC). The crane in the painting has a giant wheel which is powered by people like hampsters in a wheel. In this case it was used to unload or load the wine barrels. Your wheels are beauty in form and function! By the way, G may now stand for Giant judging by the photos taken with the local inhabitants in which Gee seems to tower over them. They certainly know how to dress and have given G a new look with the headgear. Just wondering if they think that bike helmuts are part of the Canadian native costume.......Happy trails m and d

Tibet now?
Hey guys, really impressed by what you experienced and forward your tb to my chinese friends, because it is so interesting that you see those things, that we got used to, in different ways, novel eyes.... Again envy your two, with such wonderful experience, ashame, I have not been that part of China, and I feel somewhat interesting as following your pictures... Though you are experienced travelers, weather on that part of country has been unusual cold and cause inconvenience. Take good care of yourselves. And enjoy vegetables as much as you can; when you get to big city, you may not have that much fresh and varieties to satisfy your highly consummed bodies. Finally I have to order some photos when you get here, there are really interesting, that one would have found if take other transportations other than bikes... When is your planned time window to get to pekin? xujian, cheers

Hey, two crazies, it is very nice to hear from you through this blog: more convenient than when you were in Hull... Today is Chinese new year here, where are you two now? Guess on the road of somewhere remote, otherwise you would update your blog here. Or maybe celebrating the festival with locals. One thing for sure, you will enjoy veg food before heading to inland China. Keep us be informed. Oh pls look for some info on inland road from Tibet to Nepal if possible, I am thinking a move when spring coming. Keep warm and healthy.

Rising Damp
Great shot your photo from the balcony. How about creating a calendar for next year (or the next few years) with your favourites? Even in France people say that you should not feel the cold coming from Canada but the damp really penetrates one's body (some houses here have not yet discovered central heating even though the Romans had!). Thought of you two when viewing scenes of China's snowstorm - there was a photo of a moped heaped precariously high with boxes tied with rope about twice the height of the vehicle itself and with a few centimetres of snow on top of the cargo and it's driver, quite a balancing trick! Alors Bon Courage et Bonne Route.......bisous.
