Casparis

Greetings,

I am travelling whenever I can, preferably with a small backpack containing camera gear and a toothbrush. So far I mostly in Asia but I'm starting to look at other continents as well now. Just started diving as well so destinations with good diving spots is on the list too now a days.
Photographing mostly nature but any thing or situation hides a good picture so I'll snap away at almost anything.

All the best,
Casparis, Sweden

Last blog from this trip. We have already returned home to a very cold and snowy Sweden and have returned to both work and school here. Hard to make a conclusion when it still feels like most of me is still there (and the other part can't wait to go back :)) We had a great time for sure and met a lot of wonderful people during our stay that are now part of the memories we always will carry with us. I'd like to thank each and everyone that we got to know again. You all made these months very very special for us. May you have peace and happiness in you lives. Sincerly Casparis... read more

Back to the start Another month has passed now and time has come to start to wrap up our belongings and relations here on Koh Lanta. I am back to birds again after a short break, we have moved to a new hotel and it's closer to the beaches and the north-eastern peak of Koh Lanta, that could be one reason as well :) So now we are just relaxing and enjoying the last weeks here. As before I have a lot of pictures but not so much to write about. Love and happiness ... read more

A short entry about the festival we just attended here in Thailand. One of the many beautiful festivals that takes place in Thailand is the one for Loy Krathong. This is celebrated on the full moon in November. The word loy means to float, and a krathong is a banana leaf cup. People place a candle and incense sticks in their krathongs and then float them on a local river, pond or in the ocean. You should place some coins, a piece of a nail and some of your hair in your krathong and as you push away the krathong, ask for forgiveness for polluting the waterways during the past year but also for good luck in the coming year. A friendly spirit arranged so that we could learn how to make our own krathong and ... read more

We finally decided to head over to Tonsai beach for some DeepWaterSolo climbing. So we took a boat from Ko Lanta to Krabi. A bus from Krabi to Ao-nang and another boat from there to Tonsai. Unfortunately our timing was bad (surprised?):) So we ended up renting a private longtail boat and a climbing guide. We signed up for a some warm-up climbing and walked the slippery scenic route to Railay beach and phra-nang bay. Beautiful place and nowadays a great climbing spot. I visited this place 15 years back and still remember the shrine for the water Princess in the small caves as well as the scenery. Much more people there now though ;) The Princess Cave or Tham Phra Nang Nok, reveals a more recently discovered inner Princess Cave or Tham Phra Nang Nai, ... read more

Greetings, Krabi, Kuala Lumpur and Ao-nang/Raighley are some of the places we have visited during the last month. We are now on our second entry of our VISA and we only have to extend the VISA once more before we head back home on the 30th of december. We have found that if you live in a rubber plantation, go for the salty thai made toothpaste instead of a european/american brand. If you do you get to keep the paste to yourselves and do not have to share it with an uncountable amount of ants, who seems to love the sweeter brands. And if you are heading down to the national park on Ko Lanta make sure that you have good tires. When I travel to the park and intended to head back before it got ... read more

We have now spent 2 weeks studying and my Thai is picking up. It´s really hard and difficult but very rewarding and it´s great to be able to go to the restaurants and order in Thai. Or to try to start a most basic conversation about ages, names and where we come from and what we like. They have a big market at the school in Saladan every quarter and this week it was time again. Lots of food stalls and shops with all kinds imaginable and unimaginable things for sale. Along with the arrow throwing, ball throwing and soft air gun shooting stalls. Live music on a huge stage for this small town. It's been quite cold last couple of days and we are starting to get cold when the temperature ventures below 30 degrees ... read more

Greetings fellow travellers and or readers. Almost a month has passed since we arrived and in a few days our schools and studies will begin. We have done some excursions around the island and visited the monkey school. Yes a school for monkeys. They come down from the mountains in the morning to get some food and will then be chained to something and trained. Not sure in what because we choose to just mingle with the young ones instead of opting for the whole show. Cute little fellows but with hard bites and sharp teeth. I guess they didn't like me too much or just wanted to go back to the jungle to play again. But every morning they come back for the food and chain. Different monkeys according to the trainer too. Made me ... read more

Diving I can now proudly announce that Arjuna and Sofus are now Open Water Divers. Congratulations kids!! Well done We had some really nice dives at Ko Haa Lagoon and Ko Bida. Watching Hawk bill turtles gracefully swim around and small Black Tip Reef Sharks cruising the reefs. Among all the other wonderful creatures that populate our oceans. There are some truly nice diving spots around here and we’re hoping to enjoy a lot more dives during our stay here. And underwater photography looks really fun too. Pollution We stopped along the way to the diving spot to pick up some garbage from the waters. Unfortunately there are a lot of garbage floating around here, especially after the windy seasons and it’s very sad to see how we pollute the world we inhabit. Luckily our awareness ... read more
