Visited Red Canyon, Utah. It is aptly named. You are surrounded by red rock cliffs and various rock formations of all shapes and sizes. Lots of great hiking trails and many are quite short (under a mile) so not too taxing. Of course for the more adventurous longer hikes are available. The pictures give you a good sense of the colours and sizes and various shapes of the rocks. Lovely scenery so I spent probably four hours here hiking the trails and of course taking pictures. Next stop Bryce Canyon, one of the more popular and visually-stunning areas. Stay tuned.... read more

Visited the Kolob Canyon portion of Zion National Park, Utah . Did a 5 mile scenic drive with great views of the canyons in the area. Then I hiked the Middle Fork of the Taylor Creek. A 5 mile round trip hike ending in the "double arch alcove". A majestic, striated cliff. The Navajo sandstone is streaked with water seeping thru the rock layers producing a very colourful effect. Further upstream I encountered a weeping wall with water seeping through the rocks and flowing down. I must say after 5 hour on the trail the legs were getting a little sore. Needless to say a nap afterwards!... read more
