We retired to Spain in 2004 and love it! We belong to a walking club which enables us to explore the villages and mountains we wouldn't normally find. We have just bought our first motorhome " Bertie" and are really looking forward to heading out for some new adventures!

Leaving Spain in lovely sunshine we headed off towards our first destination of Monchique in Portugal......making the obligatory breakfast stop on the way! We arrived some 5 hours later, remembering to adjust our clocks - still find it strange that Portugal is on the same time zone as the UK, unlike the rest of Europe. We were staying at the Thermal spa hotel in Monchique, some 20km inland. A lovely spot which is actually a collection of 4 small hotels/apartments that have been taken over and it now has a lovely villagy feeling with a shady plaza at the heart of it. The views were stunning and I don't think i'd heard so much birdsong on a walk, usually because there are 55 of us and the noise we make would ... read more

Europe April 19th 2015

Not sure if it was the "turning 60, purple hat syndrome" we had been talking about getting a motor home in a few years time, but then decided that life is too short and we should enjoy it whilst we are able to......... So with that in mind we set out to look for a motorhome! We saw a few advertised but when we went to see them, it was obvious that they weren't well looked after. We were booked to spend a night just outside Seville as there were two dealers there but on the way we called into Autocaravanasnorte in Antequera and that was where we first saw Bertie! He is a 2007 Burstner Levanto 3 berth with 39500km on the clock and immaculate inside so well looked after. He has a top box ... read more
