Day 24. 9267Km. I just did the math and so far I'm getting 15.1 mpg or for you younger folks I'm using 18.7L/100Km. What would have been wrong with 5.35 Km per Litre? It's probably a European thing. That's about 50% more fuel than I use without the trailer. I'm moving about 13,000lbs which is probably a little less than I would do with my old trailer when it was loaded with fire wood but this one being so high it's like pushing a sheet of plywood through the air. What I'm saying is this one is more noticeable. All in all not too bad. There are guys out there with gas pickups who get that kind of mileage driving around empty. I slept in a bit this morning and just as I was starting to ... read more

Day 23. Tuesday. When the Queen of England has the TP roll changed does she want it over the top or under? Inquiring minds want to know. Between the weed wacker and the dog barking this morning I did not sleep as long as I could have. Why do people think that just because it's a small dog it is OK to let it bark. They would'nt get away with it if it was a real dog. I started the day with a mani and pedi meaning I got out the clippers. Despite the fact I don't drink milk my nails still grow as fast as my hair. Women hate that. TMI? Next was to polish up the bike. My friend Kalvin who has been riding for years showed me this Harley spray cleaner once and ... read more

Day 22. 8665Km. 3348Km in four days. I think I'll stay here for 2 days and have a look around. I would have stayed in Thunder Bay for an extra day but it was raining this morning. One thing I forgot in my babbling yesterday. I know why there is a shortage of butterflies. They are all suicidal. I can't tell you how many have flown directly in front of my truck. Them and dragon flies. Dozens. I left Thunder Bay under cloudy skies. I heard it raining in the night and early in the morning before I got up but fortunately it had stopped for a bit during the time I wanted to pack up and leave. Much like the day I left New Brunswick it rained off and on but nothing too heavy. By ... read more

Day 21. 7952Km. Happy Summer! I can't say enough about Satellite Radio. I have Sirius. I can't imagine a trip like this without it. I suppose I'd listen to my iPod but even that would get old fast. Any channel any time. LOVE IT! The government spin doctors are at it up here. There is a Northern Roads Program in effect and everywhere there is road construction there are signs plastered up all over. The thing is, other than one patch of resurfaced road, all I've seen are bridge repairs that would have had to be done anyway. I imagine some political propaganda announcement where they promised the people of the North that the government was going to invest hundreds of millions of dollars into northern roads and everyone cheered. My friend Caroline came from Quebec ... read more

Day 20. 7117Km I knew I had a lot of ground to cover and had no idea what the road was going to be like. The map indicated it was paved but being so remote was it just a logging road that had the crap beat out of it? Once underway there is no option but to continue or turn around. This is the only road up here. I got propane in Roberval and topped up on diesel in Saint-Felicien. I had half a tank which under normal conditions, even with the trailer, would take me the 220Km to Chapais but why risk it? As it turned out the road to Chapais was'nt bad at all. It's flatter than I expected. There are farms for a while out of Saint-Felicien before it turns to bush, bush ... read more

Day 19. 6166Km I got up the energy to make some toast before leaving camp this morning so I never stopped for anything but fuel. I don't think I pee'd all day either now that I think about it. I figured I'd camp close to Riviere-du-Loup and grab the ferry across in the morning... or the noon one if I slept too long. As the day progressed I started wondering if I might make it for the last crossing today. I had programmed the address of the camp ground into the GPS before I left and it said I would'nt make it but it is so outdated that it does'nt know that HWY 2 from Fredericton to Edmunston is now 4 lanes with a 110Km/hr limit. I also could'nt remember if the last ferry was at ... read more

Day 18, Thursday Yesterday's favorable weather forecast held overnight so by 11 I was riding south toward Fundy National Park. I took the shore road #915 into Alma. It got cold along the water. I'm thinking that even in the dead of summer when that cold ocean water come in it must really cool things down in this area. I stopped at a bake shop in Alma for a cookie before heading into the park. There is a booth where you pay your entry toll but there is also a lane that passes right on by. I saw lots of cars zooming right past but I did'nt know if they perhaps had a season pass or what the deal was. I got to the booth and asked if I paid an entry fee if I was ... read more

Day 17, Wed. The sun was shining and the forecast was good so I rode into Moncton and through the downtown core. Plenty of pubs for later. I headed to magnetic hill to see what all the fuss was about. Cars pay $5 but motorcycles are free. Good thing too. Once I saw it I laughed the whole time I was riding and rolling the 200 foot length. What an anti-climactic waste. They have built a water park, zoo, train ride, shops, etc. around a tiny strip of road. I could'nt believe it. I gassed up and headed South past the camp and on to where I spotted another covered bridge. I was going to carry on to Alma and Fundy National Park but decided to save that trip for tomorrow since it is supposed to ... read more

Day 16. 5317Km. Not much to report today. I left Glen Margaret mid morning headed for Moncton. I arrived at the campground in Lower Cape around 3:30, unloaded the bike and took off for a ride. This was the first day it was actually warm enough that I did'nt feel a chill while riding. I rode down the coast a bit and spotted a small covered bridge before turning back and going into Hillsborough for a loaf of bread.... read more

Day 15, Monday. I was up early and after my toast drove into Halifax to get some fresh oil for the Dodge. Next stop was the Maritime Marine Museum. This is the first place I got to use my CAA card for a discount. A whole dollar! There are a few boats inside in the 10 to 20 foot range along with lots of models and some of them are almost as long. Countless years of time and the patients of a saint have culminated in some fantastic detailed models of everything for tugs to full cruise ships. There are ancient treasures brought up from the depths and a few movie rooms to sit and rest in. The first hour or so was frustrating because someone in their infinite wisdom thought it would be a good ... read more
