You are right locals are not nice to local. Mauritius ia just a rude society getting worse over the years. We are only nice to tourist-white- go figure why. Mauritians go evrywhere on holidays not only indian as you said.
bus to Joshimath not sure if my info is still valid as it's from 8 years ago, well maybe some parts are still useful. I hope they have at least changed the buses to more modern ones. it would be great if you can let me know (reply to this thread) if anything has changed in how to get to Joshimath. happy travels
nothing to do there You are totaly right theres nothing to do in Mauritius if you are not 60 or older. I travelled all the island and the best thing was quad bikeing in Casela park but its not worth 13 hours flight from Europe. I also have seen many old tourist womens pay for sex to young Mauritians. Also there are to many cars in Mauritius and most of them are bad maintained and have co2 emission like an airplane... So if you are sick better stay at your hotel because you can start vomit from the smell cars making.
Research before you travel. After having been to Jamaica more than 15 times and loving Jamaica, I think that a little more research on the country would have been to your benefit. The area around Montego Bay hotel area is not dangerous and u can meet many nice people. Going blindly to any country would be scary but a little research is helpful.
Travel to Morocco It seems you have been traveling for long and to distant places. I found your travel to Morocco quite interesting. I wish i could get a bit free from the busy schedule and visit Morocco. Ho pe you enjoyed.

your posts are hilarious A couple years old but timeless. I am on my way to one of your destinations in India. Yes, love it AND hate it simultaneously.
So true... I lived in India for some years and I was really surprised by the number of foreigners looking for spirituality in a country where the obsession of praying to the goddess of money is pervasive. One thing is for sure... If your life is lacking excitement then go to India, you can find better spirituality in helping the needy people close to you, by helping you will do more for yourself than in an expensive ashram with a greedy guru.
about 500 and 1000 rupee notes Indian 500 and 1000 currency notes are not allowed for transaction in Nepal.
read this: http://goindia.about.com/b/2010/07/16/reminder-not-to-take-1000-and-500-rupee-notes-to-nepal.htm
about 500 and 1000 rupee notes yes, but the Nepali visa was 1400 Indian Rs for 15 days or 2200 Indian Rs for 30 days and the Nepali immigration accepted 500 and 1000 Indian Rs notes at the border when you are paying for the Nepali visa. you cannot use them anywhere else in Nepal but you can at the border.
Mauritian Perspective Any well-informed traveller would learn more about the country and the region before travelling. Lonely planet for example would be a good start. Basically if you don't like the beach and you had no money to enjoy the best places, then are you really surprised that you had such a bad experience? And btw Auberge de Rose-Hill is a slut house, no wonder the bed were stinking. And you still got ripped paying 24 per night haha.
Mauritian Perspective Thank you for your response. I accepted it because it will help inform others going to Mauritius. Your response informs people that Auberge de Rose-Hill is a slut house and that I overpaid. It also informs people of a Mauritian's response to what I said, which is, if you don't have the money, then don't go to Mauritius. Just to let you know, I went to Mauritius to visit a friend whom I hadn't seen for 22 years, I did not go there for the beaches or a vacation, etc.

protection Recently in Munambam near kodungallur beach some gundas attacked some photo graphers. If some foreigners coming to munabam beach any safety avilable?
thts not all true. i m a mauritian. i would just say that you had really bad chance to have met all these negative points during your journey. mauritius is such a nice place to live, so am damn sure that it would be a real summer holiday for you people around the world.
and of course if you look for the cheapest room, it ll definitively be cheap. LOL.
n if u want to have a cheap holiday, then better get some mauritian friends (who dont work in the tourism sector.) thus u may get to know the best places to visit at better prices.
u may contact me on krsnkool@yahoo.com
What a shining example of good work I originally went to Goa to hopefully undertake some work on the play area within the Childrenwalkingtall project for a period of six weeks, but due to the health problems of my Father I had to return home to the UK. In the short time I was there I can honestly say that the small team of people conducted their tasks in a way that all of us should be proud of, unlike many ''Charities'' every penny given is ploughed into the project there did not appear to be any expences taken out for running costs more to the fact it would not surprise me if some of the voluteers actually dug deep into their own pockets. You only had to look into the faces of the Children being helped to know that these people really wanted to help rather than to be seen to help. My only dissapointment is that due to Indian Immagration laws I am unable to return for the enforced two month statitory clause, hopefully should I be availible I would love to return.. my best wishes and heart felt gratitude to all at Childrewalkingtall a shining example of how help/caring should be administered Keep up the very good work good luck ,hope to be with you again soon J A V

Basic Level Rock Climbing Hey, I'm interested in Rock Climbing but have never done it before. Does this club, Adventure and Explorers, offer training for complete freshers? I live in Mumbai, so would it be possible for you to tell me where I can contact them?
I apologize to all those who asked me about rock climbing in Mumbai. I did not respond because I did not know I received those messages through TravelBlog. I will answer all questions from now on (July 2012).
Please be informed that I'm a hardcore budget backpacker. I do not hang out at beaches, visit tourist hotspots, etc. I travel to meet people and to experience how other people on this planet live. I write travelblogs for a few reasons: 1, to inform other budget travellers, in the hopes of saving them from hassles I experienced; 2, to inform my friends or anyone interested in my tra... full info
