The final day, I woke,or rather didn't wake with a migraine, it involved me making this awful whiny noise somewhat of a growl. Good news after 16 years of marriage Ed seems to understand both my whines and growls. He quickly interpreted to mean trximet, lights off, quiet and Please bring coffee. Not sure how much time passed but he delivered on all things and even brought breakfast. Once the treximet kicked in, my favorite prescription migraine med, I paid him back by dragging on my cycling clothes. First of all they might be the most awful looking clothes, I refuse to wear jerseys, yes I know they have big pockets, but they also have elastic waist bands, hmmm. Maybe a good look on 23 year old guys, not as much on me. Yes Ed wears ... read more

Well, I guess you might find this blog boring, nothing goes wrong, the weather is nice and we don't climb why mountains. We woke up this morning a little early to assess the bike situation, much to our delight Malcom came through and gave us bikes with much better tires I couldn't have been more please. His only miss was leaving the brake quick release lever (pronounce leeever- malcom is British) on all four wheels. I quickly place them in the down position and do a quick fail safe we are off. I suggest heading back to Pollenca without a sidetrack to the mountains. Our intent is to do a mountain climb that is on a peninsula near port Pollenca. The weather is warm and feeling great, so I decide to be a lovely wife and ... read more

Well after a stern talking to from pro cycle hire about how we should have rented our bikes five months ago online and letting me know that while Malcom (bike guy from our hotel) is a stand up guy he is not a bike shop, they agreed to fix the spike and true the wheel. Apparently it's good business to reprimand and state the obvious to possible clients. Don't worry ed is taking notes for Mission Control's employee handbook. Well 1 hour later we are on the road, ed's newly spoked trued wheel has a flat. No problem, I fix it and we hit the road again. 2 kilometers later same wheel another flat. But the problem seems to be the extremely old worn out tire. I check the tubes no pinches, no holes, yet it ... read more

Ahh where to start, I guess at the beginning, last night I decide I want to go to LLuc (pronounced yuk) which means my biggest cycling climb in my life. Two years ago we did Orient, this would take me to the real mountain range. I didn't mention it on yesterday's blog due to nerves. I get unusually nervous about stuff like this, I know I won't be the fastest that I'm fine with, failing not as fine with! A quick aside, I have two leaky heart valves not so leaky they need repaired yet but leaky enough that I sounds like I smoke when cycling uphill. I do not smoke, but I do love those candy cigarettes with the puff powder smoke, but who doesn't. So last night at dinner Ed starts telling me things ... read more

I promise to stop drinking 15 espressos per day. I promise not to drink coffee with dinner. I didn't sleep hardly at all which is unusual for me. I always say I can sleep anywhere - except a comfy hotel after cycling 80 miles and drinking 15 espressos. Note Ed started drinking coffee this year so my caffeine addiction is at an all time high. I slept maybe two hours with tons of tossing and turning. Ed slept like the dead, seriously I turned on the light, coughed, turned over repeatedly and he slept through the whole thing. Finally at 5:00 after finishing one book and starting another I fell asleep for a few hours. Due to my somewhat comatose state today our cycling was less, but I stopped drinking coffee by 3:00 and we have ... read more

His whole blogging thing takes some getting used to. Thus that's why I ended mid word, niw the unfortunate part remembering what word... Ahh yes espresso, right I was deluded we somehow thought the jersey shore two years after our first bout would somehow improve. Well I'm here to say that Pauly D and Snookie missing as was bruce spring stein. Sad that we went from referencing the jersey shore with Bruce Springstein and we have downgraded to Pauly D, the situation and Snookie. That is truly sad and I have to wonder how The Boss feels about that? Ok so no improvement and btw it always rains when I am struggling with wind and traffic. So I am wearing our only cycling mirror I am going to digress for a second - shocking Germans who ... read more

We are back in Mallorca, two years later almost to the day. Much like last time we had an uneventful flight. Meaning fell asleep the minute I could lay my seat down. Ed woke me (by shaking me) a little before breakfast. We promptly got lost in Palma, finally foud our way to Santa Maria Checked out out hotel ( yes I gave our room the once over for any creepy crawlers) happy to report all clear! Found our bikes for the week and put our pedals and seats on an went for a Great forst ride. It was beautiful we went to a little village, Costix, ha espresso and headed home. It was good, we learned that we have become huge bike snobs. We don't bring our own bikes and we both noticed the handlebars ... read more

So much to blog and so little computer access, we share with everyone staying here so it takes a little time to have a chance to tell the story. No pics but will share when we get home. Ok, the riding has been amazing for all three girls, truly a learning experience and they are having such a good time, that we are booking a return trip for next August. If this is my husband reading this maybe I should have warned you first. Sorry, but it is gorgeous and I think you would like it too. If this is anyone else reading and you are thinking I want to ride horses in Portugal let us know soon. They only take a small number of riders and the horses are very high quality both dressage (please ... read more

Second day of riding and the qoutes from the riders as follows Annie Laziest horse ever Sage Im not dead yet Heather Hold on for dear life. Ok in actuallity the girls are riding either 2 or 3 hours per day and they are working hard. It is funny because the horses are very well trained, but as Annie says you have to know which button to push and it is much different than the US. The girls are used to not using really short reins, but here if you donÂșt the horses assume you do not know what you are doing so you must. On a non horse note there is a gorgeous church, actually around every corner but the one across the street rings the bell on the half hour starting at 7, thus ... read more

We have arrived. After a pretty restful trip to Frankfurt we did the extended walking tour of the Frankfurt airport. In Frankfurt we had a short layover, oh by the way, if you ever feel like shopping for luxury items at 7 am go to the Frankfurt airport. They had shops open selling, Rolex, Cartier, Tods shoes, Chanel. We cant even get a coffee at the Hartford airport after 9 at night forget luxury goods. We did not buy anything but made our flight to Porto. Some slept, some had breakfast. OK Bridgette and I had breakfast. Crepes and a yummy lemon curd filled cookies. Upon arriving in Porto we knew that we might run into a little trouble with our rental car. We were not disappointed. We went to the Europcar counter and explained that ... read more
