Himalayan Glacier Trekking - 14 day Everest Base Camp trek Its too hard to put this into words right now. The photos will have to do for now. It was the most amazing thing weve ever done, the hardest thing we've ever done, and the proudest thing weve ever done.... read more

Our time in Kathmandu was split into 2 parts - pre-trek and post-trek. These photos are from both those experiences. Before our trek, we visited Durbar Square, the Swayambhunath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa (Boudha Stupa), and Thamel. This was quite a shocking change from Dubai and took until we returned from the trek to complete wrap our heads around any of it. Not only are there interesting things to see everywhere you look, but there are cars and motorcycles coming AT you everywhere you look (and also everywhere you are not looking). We live in NYC and we've never been this worried about getting run over like we were in Kathmandu. I also might add that traffic patterns are frantic as there are no working street lights, no stop signs, and there are often cows walking in ... read more

Thessaloniki and Litochoro. After our time in the islands with family, we flew up to Thessaloniki in Macedonia/North Greece. It was a nice change of pace and was an opportunity to see the Turkish history in that part of Greece, as well as taste alot of amazing northern Greek foods. After leaving the city we headed to Litochoro, the town at the base of Mount Olympus. We attempted to climb it, but Zeus brought all kinds of low altitude rain and fog throughout the 2 days we we were there. We hiked the first 14 kilometers from Litochoro to Prionia. This is technically not even on Mount Olympus yet, however it is the beginning of the traditional trail to the summit. Apparently, the rain and fog disappeared about 10 kilometers or so beyond where we decided ... read more

My parents came and joined us for a week in Crete. We spent time in both Iraklio and Chania, with a visit to Knossos starting out the trip. We spent one of the days on a 16 kilometer hike through the Samaria gorge. My mom finished the last 6 kilometers on a donkey due to knee issues and general slowness. Epic story, wish I had seen it (Matt and I had gone on ahead of them). Needless to say, the rest of the time was spent at the beach.... read more

We were lucky enough to have family come visit and travel with us for a little bit on the trip. The first family to come were Melanie and Paul. (Matt's sister and her husband). We spent half our time on Santorini and half the time on Milos. It was awesome to see them and to share this part of our trip with them. ... read more
