Amy and Mike's Adventures

Amy and I are heading to Europe for the month, and this is the account of all that we're doing!

North America » United States July 28th 2009

OK, so we both made it back home after several VERY long travel days. We will be updating the blog throughout the week, posting pictures and filling in the details of Germany and Amsterdam. Thanks for reading, and the good stuff is coming!... read more

Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Munich July 18th 2009

So internet has been infrequent. We get it on Mike's IPOD Touch sometimes and that is why we are able to update Facebook so easily but typing out an entire blog on a key pad that is smaller than a credit card can be a bit bothersome. Espcially when you get it all typed and than the internet fails. So anyway.....the rest of Italy was amazing. We saw a lot of history, art, and churches. When in Rome we saw Michelle Obama at the St. Peter's Basilica. That was pretty cool. Sorento was gorgeous as was the Isle of Capri. The color blue in the blue grotto can not be described in words. I thought Venice was great. I wish I had another day or two there to explore. LOTS of random streets and alleys. We ... read more

Europe » Italy » Tuscany » Florence July 7th 2009

So we have made it to the second location in Italy! Florence is beautiful. Very nice city so far. We walked around last night and saw lot of churches, statues, and beautiful veiws of the city. Today, whenever the boys wake up, we are going to see some of the art. I must first comment on the Ironman Competition we seem to be on... So our first stop in Italy was a place called Chinque a terra(spelling is probably all wrong but I cant spell in English, how am I suppose to spell in Italian too). It means 5 cities. So I thought it was going to be a nice walk between villages. Sipping a bottle of wine along the way. Little did I know it was going to be climbing not one but two mountains. ... read more

Europe » France » Île-de-France » Paris July 2nd 2009

We had the best workout day today! I'm gonna keep this short, since I'm not at an Internet cafe, and the wireless is a little spotty, but we'll fill in the details later. Paris people are beautiful. It must be in the water, because the sidewalk feels more like a catwalk. Stunning! Today we took an incredible 3 1/2 hour bike tour through the side streets of Paris. If you ever come visit Paris, look into Bike About Tours. It's an independent tour company put together by an American and a Kiwi. Wonderful guys who really know their stuff. We then came back to the apartment and rested before we had a wonderful picnic underneath the Eiffel Tower. We had a great spread of wine, cheese, and bread. It was a perfect meal. By the way, ... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Dublin » Dublin July 1st 2009

Our visit to Dublin was short and unexpected. I suppose I had these grand ideas of Dublin and I was a little disappointed. I can't really put it into words what I expected but it was not this. Our first night we went to Temple Bar and had some more Fish and Chips. These I have to say were way better than the Whetherspoon Fish and Chips(Sorry Elvena)!! We then headed to the pub and had some cider. God, I love this stuff!! We than went back to our hotel and had some more cider. We went to bed and were awoken by a serenading Irish man. We both agreed that at the proper time, he would of been fantastic. But at 2 in the morning, he was obnoxious. The next morning, we went for a ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom June 29th 2009

We have typed this blog twice now and hopefully the saying is true...third try is a charm!! Wireless is so touchy. Our trip to England was wonderful and we can't wait to go back. We did a lot of walking and sightseeing but didn't end up seeing or doing everything. We stubled upon Buckingham Palace by accident and were ammazed by how much it is like the White House. Well, in the sense that it is a big grand house and there are people standing and staring at the gate. Of course this was way nicer, far less homeless people, and had men in cool hats. We then walked through a large portion of Hyde Park. While there we were able to here the Killers getting ready for thier performance the next day. Mike was super ... read more

Europe » United Kingdom » England » Greater London June 27th 2009

Europe » United Kingdom » England » Greater London » London City June 25th 2009

Day one of being in London has come to a close. Our flight was VERY nice on Virgin Atlantic, and I will definitely take them again in the future. Amy finally got to see Slumdog Millionare, and Mike got caught up on "My Name Is Earl" episodes. After a delightful dinner, we had a beverage to help us sleep. We got a little bit of sleep, but the little kids behind us had other plans. Upon our arrival at Heathrow, we were greeted by Elvena, who even made a sign! Adrian, the little man, picked us up in his appropriately sized little car. We headed back to his mum and dad's house to freshen up. Mike had some difficulty understanding the toilets, much to his embarrasment. We found the house to be, what they call, "quaint ... read more

North America » United States June 21st 2009

Well, Amy and I have been busy packing today, trying to cram as much stuff as we can into an impossibly small backpack. I swear, the thing seemed much bigger when I got it! Anyways, some people have asked to have a basic itinerary of where we're headed when. 6/23 New York City 6/24-6/28 London 6/28-6/30 Dublin 6/30-7/3 Paris 7/3-7/4 Milan 7/4-7/6 Cinque Terre 7/6-7/8 Florence 7/8-7/11 Rome 7/11-7/14 Sorrento 7/14-7/16 Venice 7/16-7/18 Munich 7/18-7/20 Driving through Germany 7/20-7/22 Berlin 7/22-7/25 Amsterdam Then back to London the 25th and flying back to New York!... read more
