According to my English Seminar on "Black Things: Objects and Minority Lit." Griffin was indeed a seminal representation of Black literature, but that others like Ralph Ellison really get at the heart of dealing with the African-American Identity post-slavery. I'm actually surprised that they are reading Griffin at all, to be honest. That's more satirical, I would think. And very high level. Makes me wonder about the state of the education system in the states.
Answers Why is everyone allowed to wear spandex?
A: there is no law forbidding this - that's alone a good reason for the law abiding Germans
Why are shoes required to be worn everywhere, even in the house?
A: Everywhere? Just thinking of saunas and FKK beaches.
Why are the y and the z switched on German keyboards?
A: the character z is much more common than y in German and was thus already in typewriter times at this place
Why do all students, even those who are 8-9 years old write with fountain pens?
A: that the radio moderator can ask you in an interview: Pelikan or Geha?
Why do you think it's gross to drink tap water when mineral water tastes terrible.
A: first you need to get the children used to that a good beverage must contain carbonate. This with adding the alcohol and the hope flower comes in the next step.
A for 1-5: tradition
1. Shoes are certainly not to be worn in the house; what you wear in the house are Hausschuhe. The point is that your street shoes don´t touch the inside floors, and your inside the house shoes don´t touch the street. Something to appreciate if you have to clean your own house.
2. The z and the y are different because they have a far greater need of the z than the y, so it is part of the "home keys".
3. The mineral water is a matter of taste. I prefer sparkling water to tap water. And acquired taste I guess.
