keep beautiful sweetie
Tren de las Nubes Yes, I`ve heard it several times now... The train in Switzerland isn`t the highest train in the world. Well, I´m in Salta and the Tren de las Nubes (or Train of the Clouds) is just a short trip from here. I think I`ll go and check it out!!
Happy Camper. Hi Tori.......... don´t worry! I´ve got very little hiking experience, though I´ve been camping many times.... There aren´t that many mountains in Australia, where I live. I´d suggest you take a small gas cooker, as many times when I was cold I wished for hot food. You can rent everything in Puerto Natales, though January is high tourist season and it might be difficult to find everything you need.
Beautiful! What a wonderful blog! Beautiful pictures, I really caught your enthusiasm for the beauty of this place. I am headed to Buenos Aires in February and plan on doing this hike in early March. Any suggestions? I, like you, was planning on renting the gear because I will be in South America for several months and can't drag the camping gear around the whole time. I feel more confident that this is feasable for a woman alone. Do you have a lot of previous camping experience?
I know you are travelling, but if you have time to respond I would love to know any thoughts you have.
Take care!
Tori

Las Montañas! Thanks Stephen, I´ve just spent a few more days of hiking in Patagonia, but on the Argentine side, in El Chalten. It´s just as beautiful there... but the weather has not been the best. I walked up to Mount Fitzroy but didn´t have the fortune to see it. I´m headed North to Bariloche for X-mas and Buenos Aires for New Year´s Eve.
just great! Awesome post, great journal entry and amazing pictures. I recently discovered your blog and really like your style. I rated one of these pictures of a 5! I hope you travel more through Chile. Where are you off to next?!
highest train? doubtful I love your blogs and pictures! Unfortunately the worlds highest train is either in Tibet or Bolivia. Elevations in these countries (above 14,000 feet) are higher than the highest peak in the Alps, making their rails the highest in the world- both passenger and cargo railways!
Puente de la Barqueta I assume that´s the name of the ´freaky tilted back suspension bridge´. I was on my way back from seeing it and stopped to get a fresh OJ at a cafe´, got talking to what happened to be an engineer and he informed me that the cables don´t serve the function of holding up the tilted member, that in fact it´s self-supported. Didn´t expect that, did ya Franco?
On the Calatrava hunt Thanks for filling in the blanks Gus. I was searching for the pointy ´harp´ like bridge of Calatrava´s on a hot 45 degree day, when I came across the other one by chance and although it looks like a Calatrava, I thought I´d better check the facts first before jumping for joy.
Wow! Calatrava! Great photos Zoe.. the freaky tilted back suspension bridge in Sevilla has always been my favourite... pity you missed out on the flight to Barcelona, woul dhave been good to see Gaudi's Sagrada Familia! Franco
Both bridges are Calatrava's. They were built for the Universal Expo in 1992. They are called 'Puente del Alamillo' and 'Puente de la Barqueta' ('Puente'='Bridge'). Take care, Baggins.
drunk in Bulgaria Yeah, yeah, why does it always sounds like I was the one that drank the most of the Rakia? All I wanted to drink was coke, but because I couldn't speak bulgarian, you ordered always the drinks and poor me ended up with a double or triple glas of rakia. At least you mentioned, that my brain was the only one that was still working after such a week with you and Jeremy. We had a great time in bulgaria and it was lovely to catch up with you again. Hope you have a good time in Switzerland too. Aussiland is fun at the moment and I really need these six weeks of holiday to recharge my batteries from the week in bulgaria.... see ya BEAT
Aussie-bulgarian travelling the world... currently homeless and jobless, but loving every minute of it! Join me for a few highlights Round-The-World... Hope to inspire you to get off your bums and visit me somewhere out there. Every day is a new adventure!........

P.S .... I didn't kick my feet when I left home. woops! ... full info
