Tuesday began with a slight sleep in and some washing at the local Laundrette. Come 10am and the girls were still in bed, so kym and I snuck off to Mama’s on Washington square for breakfast. We had spotted it earlier in the trip and saw queues there each day. My bacon, eggs and potatoes were superb while Kym’s crab patties looked delicious! No wonder there were queues. The girls got moving in time for us to get to pier 33 to catch the boat to Alcatraz! Alcatraz was brilliant with the highlight the cellhouse audio tour, where we heard and saw the history of the prison. Some very impressive crooks spent some time on the rock including Al ‘scarface’ Cabone. He was in for tax evasion. I suspect there were worse crimes than that but ... read more

Sometimes when you’re travelling there are days you will carry forever. Today was one of them. Let’s start by rewinding to the early 1980’s when my parents were holidaying on Dunk Island. I suspect it was their first proper holiday without us kids. In all the pictures Dad still had his sideburns and moustache and, maybe I’m imagining it, but Mum was rocking an extremely cute crocheted bikini! It was on that holiday they met an American couple Bill and Connie. Well today we spent the day with Connie and heard how they first met. Connie told us they had booked the trip to Dunk Island on a working holiday at the last minute. Unfortunately they’d missed out on the snorkelling bookings and were really disappointed. They couldn’t believe it when an Aussie couple they’d just ... read more

Day 2 ~ We woke up at 11 so today’s blog for yesterday might be a bit short. As soon as we woke up and got dressed we walked down to Pier 39. I got a salted pretzel which took a while to get because all the America’s were pushing in line. Then we walked around the pier to see some seals. They were very noisy and they loved a good fight with each other. We then walked to the bus stop to get on the double decker bus. When we got on bus we plugged our headphones in and listened to the tour guide. After driving around for a bit we decided to get of at the Haight Ashbury District and got some lunch. We walked through the streets for a little bit and then ... read more

Day 1 We left our house at 5:45, but before that sadly we take Luna down to Nan’s house because she could not come with us. We checked in at the airport and put our bags on the thingy. We then went to the Qantas first class lounge and had something to eat. I had a cheeseburger and Zoe had calamari. We got on the 13hour plane ride, that left at 9 o’clock (Melbourne time) it was smooth sailing except for one part where the plane hit an air pocket( turbulence). We got a lot of food. We pretty much just watched movies the hole time. we landed at 5:15 (San Francisco time), we all just wanted to get home! We got a taxi out of the airport and we arrived! My first impression was it ... read more

After the tuk tuk we came home and went out for dinner at Plaza Mayor. Which is the Plaza that we are staying at. It was a very nice dinner. Day 21- ?Bye Josia and Micheal? Zoe We started our morning pretty slow. We just sat around the table playing cards until 11. At 11 it was Josia's flight so we had to say bye???. I will miss him so much. After Josia left and dad came back from the airport, we went for a drive to Malaga. We are staying just over the border of Málaga. In Málaga we went to another Picasso museum!! There were lots of his artworks there, including his sculptures. After all, Picasso was born in Málaga. It was very interesting to see the way his paintings changed the older he got! We also went to the outside of his house that he was born in. Zoe This morning I woke up and got ready for Córdoba. Córdoba is the capital of Andalusia. The drive was 2 hours from our house. When we arrived we went to The Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba. It's called the Mezquita. The building was a mix of different religions and styles. It was very hot. So after our tour we needed water and lunch. We had calamari and eggplant. Then we drove home. Bella and I had a swim in the pool. Then dad went to collect Michael from the airport. Michael is bella's godfather. Josia, Kym, Bella and I walked down to the festival in Cartama. The festival was really good. There was a street parade of the ancient story of Belle and Jarife. There were stalls everywhere though the streets. Some stalls had food, candles, presents, ... read more
