Great blog How fun to keep up with your travels. It sounds as if you are "smitten" with Rainny. Enjoy yourself and good things will happen to you. You are quite a lovable person.
Love,
Sandy
A very fun visit! Let's go Giants! I really am "an authentic fan", you know... thanks for all those beers too! And the vino... enjoyed that!
Your view of SF is going to send the crowds rushing to the Bay. I love that you're documenting everything. Very cool! Was great to see you and catch up! I'm glad you had a good time.
Good luck with the shielas downunda, mate!
See you somewhere else cool one day... happy blogging!
San Francisco Sorry about that bus driver but aside from him you really got to know this appealing city, thanks to Dede and Danny, his bike and car. Sounds like lots of food variety, too, from the taco truck to Max's dim sum--so glad you saw him and got that great photo. Mostly it was great that you had Dede's and Danny's companionship, and got to see the Giants game in Candlestick park with the two of them and Dede's students. I envy your biking through Golden Gate park, seeing the Tea House and the Chinese doing their exercises. The last time I did that was with my sister Pat.
Sacramento Cousins We all loved having you Zak and you are welcome back any time! We are happy to hear that you had fun and loved your wine tastinf experience in the gorgeous Napa Valley. Caleb (and his brothers) are all photo hilarious - it's almost inmpossible to take a serious picture of them. We wish you a happy rest of your journey which sounds fantastic BTW. Stay well cous...Love, Tania
Aww it was so fun to have you Zak... and to finally catch up! Nice job remembering all that detail and being so good about taking pics. (The house does not know she was left out, no worries :) SO glad you were able to survive that turbulent bus ride to come visit, next time I'll meet ya on the east coast... or who knows where!
San Jose This is a happy review of your San Jose and Carmel days, with photos to enlarge all the details you gave us. Loved it, and hope this comment works this time!
N. O. Thanks for keeping us so well informed--I too am right there with you, though I wasn't happy going through those dangerous streets with you during the pre-dawn time. I wouldn't even trust the police there; those corrupt characters might arrest you on any trumped up charge. How great to be young like you rather than old fuddy-duddy grandpa like me. I am very happy with the photos and the writing, though, especially the sentence that goes with the New Orleans at dawn shot: "The blurring of the lights here is like the blurring of conventional morality that plays along the streets." Love Bob
Zak, You bring it all back for me--the two months I spent at what was then the Gulfport Army Air Base while getting the final two months of training with a full crew before heading for England and combat over Germany. We got to know that coast between Biloxi and New Orleans well, especially the latter. What a revelation the food in N. O. was. I know I've told you about that old Buick sedan that six of us bought with its bulging tires that were constantly going flat--probably more dangerous than combat. And maybe better than Greyhound!
Sorry to learn about all the frustrations you've experienced, but it sounds like the gains have outweighed the pains. Love, Bob
DC Don't know where our comments went from this DC day, so I don't know whether it's worth writing these. Maybe they screened ours out for some reason? Guess I'll stick to email since I understand that! Anyway, we both are delighted with your comments and photos from the day you started this blog.
