Day 13 Wednesday Patricia Dorsey Murphy Rome Clear cool This morning we toured around … went into the audience hall to see the Pope. Saw him only briefly. Had several things blessed. Saw the Pieta and Moses by Michelangelo. The Sistine Chapel..the Catacombs..very busy day. Supposed to go to Tivoli Gardens tonight, but we may not go. We did go to Tivoli Gardens and it was beautiful. Situated about 18 miles from Rome. The palace and fountains and gardens were built for Lucretia Borgia's third son. Tomorrow is a free day. Bought some delicious banana grapes. Dianne Dorsey Parker Gilbreath Place: Rome, Italy Weather: Warm & sunny This AM after breakfast, we had a tour to the colosseum. Day 12 Tuesday Patricia Dorsey Murphy Rome Rainy then clear and cool Arrived Rome after 6:00. Ate lunch outside of Florence after a tour of Firenze. We saw Michelangelo’s David...outstanding. Went inside the Cathedral of Mary of the Flower. nice tour. This evening Mother, Daddy, Dianne and I found a nice inexpensive restaurant to have dinner in and went on a tour of Rome ..saw ruins, Coliseum, Trevi Fountain threw two coins in...tomorrow another tour of Rome. Went to Mary of the Florence Church with highest dome without supports. Church were Michael Angelo was buried and other very great Italians. Day 11 Monday Patty Dorsey Murphy Florence, Italy Nice mild We took a tour of Venice in the morning. Went all thru St. Marcos with a tour guide. Saw a glass display. Sat on St Mark's Square for lunch. Drove thru Appinnes Mts. Ate lunch in Bologna...on to Florence and the Auto Park Hotel. Quiet evening room early. Tomorrow we tour Florence and off to Rome. Dianne Dorsey Parker Gilbreath Place: Venice & Florence (Auto Park Hotel) Weather: nice & sunny Left Venice early and rough night as took pill for constipation and spent the night in bathroom. Stopped in Bologna, Italy for lunch and went on to Florence. It is nice here and suppose to tour tomorrow. I feel better today. Italian people are not as friendly here as other parts of Europe. Day 10 Sunday Patricia Dorsey Murphy Venice, Italy cool, nice Driving through Innsbruck. Went inside Wilten Bascillica...Rococco style. Arrived in Venice. Hotel Triton..went on a gondola ride until 11 O'Clock..will tour Venice in the morning and be off for Florence later. Dianne Dorsey Parker Gilbreath Place: Venice, Italy Weather: cool - nice - Tritone Hotel Left Innsbruck early and crossed over to Italy in AM. Went thru the Dolomite Mtn range and was beautiful. People different here. Saw a man wetting on side of road in full view. Stopped for lunch in mountains. Arrived in Venice about 7:30 PM. After dinner went into Venice and rode gondolas. Rode with Pat, Karen, Mary & Patty. Sang and cut up - was fun. Drank wine - WOW! ... read more

Day 9 Saturday Patricia Dorsey Murphy Innsbruck, Austria Nice - cool We're in the Bellevue Hotel - high in the Alps and looking at Innsbruck-a gorgeous view. We went to a show in town with a typical Tyrolean flavor- very nice -in a large beer hall. Innsbruck has grown -- also getting ready for the '75 Olympics. Tomorrow Venice. Oh, we ate lunch in Liechtenstein today - Vaduz. Came down from mtns today and made pictures. Dianne Dorsey Parker Gilbreath Place: Innsbruck, Austria - Bellevue Hotel Weather: good Left Lucerne at 8:30 AM and traveled on thru Alps. It was clouded at first but cleared about noon. The view today was best ever!! Stopped in Liechtenstein for lunch. Very nice village and small country in middle of Alps. Got to Austria & happen to hit day ... read more

Day 8 Friday Patricia Dorsey Murphy 20 Sept 74 Lucerne Switzerland Foggy and Rainy Had a nice day shopping, etc. We went to a place called the Flora Gasten and saw a floor show.. an international comedian named Alfredo. On the program also was a young man from Basel who played the xylophone to classical pieces, a family who played the accordion and yodeled and a band from Czechoslovak. We enjoyed the evening Alps and Dolomite Mts on the way. Dianne Dorsey Parker Gilbreath Place: Lucerne, Switzerland Weather: rain and clouded Our trip up to the Alps was cancelled due to bad weather. Day 7 Thursday Patricia Dorsey Murphy Lucerne Switzerland Rainy We stopped in Heidelberg for lunch. Bratwurst, brat and beer- got car for Tommy in toy store. Arr in Switzerland..beautiful. Hotel Drei Konig. nice with balcony...loved sights from room. Walked to Banhof to exchange money. Beautiful town. Sat in room and talked to Mary Elaine and Dianne. Dianne Dorsey Parker Gilbreath Place: Lucerne, Switzerland Weather: ½ day good - drizzle ½ Left Boppard Germany early (8:30 AM) and went to Heidelberg. It was nice to be where Rich had once been and beautiful town. Ate bratwurst and bread at Gashouse and was good. Shopped a little and then left. Went thru’ Germany into Switzerland. Day 6 Wednesday Patricia Dorsey Murphy 18 Sept 74 Lux and Boppard Germany Rainy and cool We drove to American Memorial Cemetery in Lux- too pix. Patton buried there..winding drive to Boppard. Rhine cruise...nice. Saw 3 castles and Lirili Rock. Ate dinner in the hotel restaurant.. Rhine Lust. Listened to band in restaurant..played mostly American music..had a nice with great view of Rhine! Dianne Dorsey Parker Gilbreath Place: Boppard, Germany Weather: cloudy We left Luxemburg at 9:15 am and went around city again and it was beautiful. Stopped at frontier at Germany in a little village and had custom check and was so pretty. Went into shop and Patty talked with lady read well. Bought wine and cheese. Real great. Day 5 Tuesday Patricia Dorsey Murphy Belgium and Luxemburg Overcast We left about 9:30 and drove from Holland through Belgium. We stopped at the 1958 World's Fair site - took pix. Belgium is very interesting. Ate veal for lunch…drove to war memorial in Bastogne- very nice- talked to school kids and took pix. Drove through lovely fields etc, to Luxemburg Staying in Holiday Inn. Lux is very interesting...Old town low between two high walls used as fortresses in past. Off for on Rhine tomorrow. Dianne Dorsey Parker Gilbreath Place: Traveling - Brussels, Belgium - Luxemburg Weather: GOOD - clear - approx. 70 Left Rotterdam at 9:30 am. The land changed from low flat land, few trees to hilly areas with beautiful landscape. Fields of brussel sprouts everywhere. Stopped outside of Brussels where World Fair held ... read more

Day 4 Monday Patricia Dorsey Murphy Amsterdam, Rotterdam Very foggy We left London after about an hour’s delay as a piece of luggage was missing from the hotel. After we arrived at the airport there was a delay of about 45 minutes because of crowding. We arrived here about 2:10- took a boat cruise around Amsterdam- shopped- enjoyed the tour very much. Drove on to Rotterdam. Had dinner in the hotel- the Savoy. Oh, we went to a diamond cutter’s place in Amsterdam. Went to a pub with Dianne and Mary Elaine.
