I was 10 the first time I left America and started to see the world. Now, at the age of 20, I can't stop traveling. I love to experience different cultures while seeing the beautiful world. I constantly have pen and paper ready to tell stories about my amazing adventures. I'm starting my first solo trip, but I cannot wait to see what God has in store for me.

Early Monday morning I woke up to get ready for my 5 day tour of the Highlands and Isle of Skye tour with MacBackpackers. The week went by in a blur and I didn’t have any time to write, so I will combine my week into one entry. That’s not to say that it was a boring week; in fact, it was the complete opposite. It was one of the best weeks of my life and I met so many wonderfully awesome people. On Monday morning we left Castle Rock Hostel around 9 with our tour guide Neil and 25 of us. Our first night was spent in Inverness. On our way there, we made a lot of stops at so many places. Here are a few from the week: Dunkelo, killicrankie, highland folk museum, Culloden, ... read more

Thankfully I did not fall off the bed last night. I was going to wake up and go see the Dunnotar Castle in Stonehaven, but there is so much more of Edinburgh to see. You could spend a week here and you still wouldn’t have seen everything there is to see. I headed out to go see Arthur’s Seat this morning. It is one of three extinct volcanoes in Edinburgh. The other two are the castle and Calton Hill. It was one of the hardest hikes I have climbed so far, but the view was worth it. At the top, you can see the entire city of Edinburgh. From all of these mountains I have been climbing, I would consider myself an amateur hiker. I am starting to develop a like of hiking, but am wondering ... read more

I didn’t fall off the top bunk last night! Today I woke up around 9 and it was great. I got ready and grabbed a breakfast bar then walked down to go on Sandemans free walking tour. The tour was about 2 and a half hours long and I got Sabela again as my tour guide. I also met up with Erin, the girl from Alaska that I met the night before. It started out as a cloudy day, but the tour still continued. This tour made me fall in love with Edinburgh even more. There is so much history, folk lore, and awesome stories about this city. We walked around all over the old town while Sabela told us very interesting stories. We started at the church and talked about town hangings outside of it. ... read more

I ate breakfast with Francis this morning and then she left. I took my time because my train didn’t leave until 9:55. I didn’t see Alex at all this morning so I left without saying goodbye. I returned my key card and headed to the rail station. When I got there, I waited for my train to Edinburgh. Most of the seats on the train were reserved, so I had to sit with this girl. It took about 2 and a half hours to get from York to Edinburgh. Once I got there I tried to find my hostel. It wasn’t very far at all, but I had to go uphill with my suitcase. Since I arrived too early at the High Street Hostel, I left my luggage there and decided to catch a train to ... read more

I woke up early this morning in time to eat breakfast with my roomies. It was a basic breakfast of toast and cereal. After breakfast, I was able to take a shower and get ready for the day. I was going to check out a free walking tour with White Rose since JY and Philipi recommended it. I ended up going with Francis and Ana, a girl from Italy. It started at 11 and ended around 2. Today was the hottest day of the year in good Ole Great Britain. We walked all over the city and I learned a lot about the York Minster, the castle walls, and a lot of roman things throughout the city. I learned a lot about so many people getting beheaded in York and how it was almost made the ... read more

I woke up in time to eat breakfast with my roomie/ new Irish friend Kieran. It was pretty much a continental breakfast of toast and apple juice. After breakfast I packed up my stuff and headed downstairs to check out. Kieran was heading to go explore the city while I was leaving, so he carried my luggage downstairs for me. I gave back my room key to the hostel owner, said goodbye to Kieran, and headed to the train station. I had one connection this time on my way to York. It was about a 3 hour train ride but split into two trains. It is always funny getting on the train because everyone is looking out the window trying to avoid you because they don’t want you to sit with them. I have become an ... read more

I woke up a tad earlier than I had planned to this morning, so I got off to an early start. My hostel had a complimentary breakfast which included cereal, toast, and coffee. Score! After I ate my toast, I headed out to go find the tram that would take me up to the Orme Mines. I knew the tram started at 10, so I arrived a little before 10. When I got there, the gate was closed and people were waiting. They were filming some television show on the tram and it wouldn’t open until 10:30. I wish I would have known before hand so I wouldn’t have wasted time just waiting. A lot of people were unhappy about it and left. I ended up finding out later that it was a kids show called ... read more

Last night at my hostel I met a girl who was graduating the next day from Cardiff University. She is from Salisbury, near Stonehenge, and studied for a year in Wyoming. She has a degree in geology and wants to work with fuel. We talked about all the differences between America and England. She was pretty cool, but her friends were also in the same room. They were out celebrating and came back really late and got up super early to get ready for graduation day. We ate breakfast together and then I was on my way to the train station. I had to get off at Chester and get on a different train to my final stop, Llandudno. The Britrail pass has been really awesome so far. I am a little relieved because if I ... read more

I met two American girls last night who were cousins. We talked for a bit last night and I found out one of them lives in the same town as my aunt. This morning when I woke up, I said goodbye to them and checked out of my hostel. As I was carrying my suitcase down two flights of stairs, a guy grabbed it and took it down the stairs for me. So thankful to have helpful gentlemen around. After I received my deposit back, I walked from my hostel to the train station. Taking the train in the U.K. is super easy. I love trains and these are probably the best trains I have been on. I had to get from Bath Spa to Bristol Temple Meads, get off and get on the train to ... read more

I woke up without an alarm this morning and it was fabulous. Unfortunately, a girl in the room took the outlet near my bed so I wasn’t able to charge my stuff up. It was a rough night of sleep because people kept coming in at every hour of the night. Praying my hostels will get better! I took my time getting ready and grabbed a breakfast bar before I headed out for the day. I walked around the city and got to see most of the cool sights. I saw the Roman baths building, and partially in it. I was too cheap to pay 14 pounds to see a huge pool. I saw the Bath Abbey and walked around some of the cute little shopping streets. For lunch I ate a Cornish pasty, this time ... read more
