We got a shuttle bus to the airport from Koh San Rd instead of a taxi and it worked out to be 100THB cheaper. We left early to get to the airport and found out that the plane had been delayed by 2 hours. We hung around waiting for the baggage check in to open and it was delayed as well. The Bangkok airport is so huge that check-in was three hours before takeoff. With the bags finally gone it was time to get some food and internet. The Air India ended up being another 3 hours all up and it was great to get onboard the plane. Security at the airport was the worse I had ever been through, I’m not sure if it was because we were going to India or that Bangkok has ... read more

The bus came to pick us up at 7:30 and I was still having trouble holding everything in. I took the last bowel stopper in a last attempt to hold things back. Jacinta was a lot better but felt tired from me keeping her up early in the morning. It was going to be a nine hour bus ride to Bangkok with a 2 hour wait at the border. Travelling trough Cambodia it was very dry and with the harvested rice fields all dried up and brown in didn’t make for a very pretty picture. I’m sure in the wet season the rice fields would be lush and green and this place would be beautiful, but the sacrifice would be the terribly hot humid conditions. We arrived at the border and within an instant had a ... read more

30/1/10: The next day was a waist of a day and I spent most of it updating my blogs. Jacinta slept and read a book as we both just felt really off as we have both come down with sever dyharea and are taking shelter in our hotel. We both feel extremily tired and run down as we are prisoners in our own room. 31/1/10: We managed to get anough energy to look at the old markets before coming back to the hotel to rest again.During the night I had a few accidents and buy this time I had had enough and was tired, dehydrated, weak and felt malnourished. Even taking bowel stoppers to try and dry things up a little didn’t help. I found it hard to believe that you can shit out more liquids ... read more

I once again had a shitty night sleep and our tuk tuk driver wanted to take us out to temple called Banteay srei which had the most preserved and detailed carvings but was also small and very busy. It was a long way out and so we agreed on $25USD for the day and we put it in writing this time. It took 45min to get out to the temple and only 20min to walk through. It was another half hour drive by tuk tuk to get to a waterfall located in the National park which has a 1.5km walk up the hill, it has carving’s engraved on the rock face with a waterfall beside it. It was alright to look at but by this time I was feeling quiet flat and didn’t understand why I ... read more

27/1/10: We landed in Cambodia with a hazy dry landscape all around. I was surprised at how flat it was and thought it had more hills. Jacinta tried to spot Angkor Wat from the plane but the visibility was to poor. We went through the visa terminal in a breeze and couldn’t believe the efficiency. We handed our passport to one guy who took our $20USD each for the visas and then the passports all got handed down the line to a team of 15 Cambodians who proceeded to stamp and issue the visas in our passports until they were spat out the other side ready to pick up. I think we were through the whole ordeal in 5mins. As usual the passport stamping took a little longer but our bags had been around the carousel ... read more

26/1/10: Around Prabang Australia day: Our feet were still bad but with our last day in Luang Prabang we had to make an effort to see the rest of the town. Because it was Australia day we had to do something special so we decided to hire a private boat up the Mekong River for 1 hour. It only cost 40000 kip and it was well worth the money. It’s not hard to find a boat to take you as they are certain to find you first. We bought a couple of Beer Laos and headed down to the shoreline and just before we got on the boat I noticed a rather large worm in the sand so I decided to pick it up and have a closer look. It was around 400mm long until I ... read more

Had a shitty night sleep and I’m convinced that humans are not supposed to sleep on 1 inch thick hessian mattresses. It was 3:00 in the morning and even though I couldn’t see the slightest shred of light the roosters obviously could. I can’t describe how loud it was at the village this early in the morning, there was literally two if not three roosters crowing every second. The crowing can only be described as a competition between other rival roosters, who could crow the loudest and the most amount of times before the sun came up. The sun came up at 6:15, then ducks, pigs, goats and turkeys all joined in to welcome in the new day. I’m sure you would get used to it after awhile and even though I have lived on a ... read more
