Big adventures and small pleasures....
It seems you learned to appreciate the subtle pleasures of life in the magical outback. May you continue to find the sounds and smells of the natural world even in the chaos of London. The word pictures and photos of your adventures have been gorgeous! Best wishes readjusting and finding some wild excursions in the soggy Isles. Also, I love the photos of little Rocky--what a sweetheart!

formation flying

Formation Flying Creates Interest In Aviation By The General Public
I always try to get to every flight demonstration and formation flying event I can find, and as a pilot have always enjoyed these exhibitions. But the first formation flying took place with birds, and one wonders how those starlings that fly in huge formations avoid colliding with one another. I wrote a post about this phenomena at my blog http://All-Things-Aviaton.com

Love the shots of the butterfly and the kadydid!! Your blogs let me travel the world each day! I just got back from a few weeks in L.A. Cool, Foged over and misty at the beach - a nice break from the summer heat of Albuquerque!

Great travel journalism
Thanks for a great blog. We are planning to cross Paso de Jama later this week and hope for clear skies and some good photo opportunities.

Great to hear your take on Peru so far, I'm not surprised you didn't fall in love with the country initially, having entered through Puno and Juliaca :/ Looking forward to hearing more about Arequipa, very glad you got to meet Juanita.

Peru, always...
Peru is amazing. I recommend visiting the whole country, not only Cuzco. Unforgettable. Hugs. Graciela from Argentina.

Hello
Hello Elizabeth, I just want to say that you still write so well so thank you for sharing your fantastic experiences. You have much more get up and go than I. Yours from Sanary sur Mer in the South of France which while beautiful is no where near as exotic as your destinations.

Did you just photograph the first recorded smiley face..?
What superb photos and I loved reading the blog. I think you snapped the first ever recorded smiley face - if you look at the personalised building blocks (the top one)! And the mummified body is just how I feel this morning now that all Ed's old Army chums have departed (it was quite a late night!!). Hope you are well, xx

This blog was amazing...
You were smart to recognize your limit even though it should have been hard never having reached your limit before. I'm looking forward to your filling the gap...especially Machu Pichu.

Well done for trying!
Shame Eric was such a knob. 5,400 is none too shabby, you both did really well.

And another
Not sure if my first attempt at commenting earlier actually made it to you,but here I am again ! Descriptions absolutely amazing, make me feel I could be there, except here I am in sunny - about to be, would you believe it, snowy Scotland !! Supposed to be colder over the weekend than at Christmas for crying out loud !!! In Aberlady at present then back up the road, weather permitting, tomorrow. You are hoping to get out of the thermals and I am about to dig them out again !! Take care of that cough/cold and be sensible and take the medicine - an order. Lots of love, Carolyn, Jim and family XXXX

Love the blog
We are planning a trip to Chile in 2013 so this was very helpful. Looking forward to reading more. Love the spectacled ducks. Car trouble in the Andes can't be good. The star gazing sounds amazing.

Gotta love San Pedro
Glad you got to spend some time there, but I hope your cold/chest infection cleared up before La Paz, the altitude is brutal there and *everything* is uphill. I had bronchitus there and spent three days in bed :/

Frameworthy
I suppose that's not really a word, is it! Anyway it should be as your photos definitely are worthy of being framed. Hey maybe you could sell some and fund your next trip...

Beautiful!
Beautiful pictures. The hike sounds amazing, if a bit exhausting! The amazing things that you have seen over the years - no wonder you get antsy after a couple of weeks back in London!

Fab as usual!
Well anything that is compared to Paris favorably is aces in my book. In fact that description of the cemetary had Pere Lachaise written all over it! May have to add this to my "maybe one day" list! Glad you are continuing to have a great time and glad that I'm actually catching up on the blogs! Wish me luck!

Hi Elizabeth! Just sitting infront of the woodburner on a clear but cold Devon evening. Just read your blogs of traveling down furthest south i suppose you can go in the world before the Antartic. Well its made me feel colder than i am here but really inspired to follow your footsteps and explore that region. I have always promised myself that i would travel to that part of the world and now shall make plans for next year. I have been doing a lot of landscape photography lately and that looks and sounds like a stunning area to take some serious pictures of, and very differant to other mountain areas i have been to before. I really felt for you on the last bit of the long day trek and you couldnt see the town!! Yeah have done that one a few times before. At least no Yetis to worry about!! Look forward to your next one. Take care. Adios Paul

Stunning trip
It takes a lot for me to be further impressed by your adventures Elizabeth, given how many you have had, and how well you have documented them, but this is truly stunning - the photographs in particular. But the physical endurance - I was wincing as I read! I am really looking forward to seeing you when you return, if there is anything left of you! Love, Hazel
