Oh yes I remember it well. It was nearly sixty years ago that the crew of shoeless kids from Upper St Kevin's Street taught me to swim in the Royal. After I graduated from the canal they let me join them diving from O'Connel's Bridge to pick up florins thrown
by ' visitors 'into the Liffey.I wonder if those kids remember the ''posh" English boy who they educated so well over
a few summers in the early fifties.I was deemed posh as I could not survive running bare foot around Dublin.
They forgave my inadequacy because I was English.
I found no such forgiveness for my Dublin accent when I returned home in the Autumns to
my home on a north London council estate.
It wasn't too cold actually since you ask. We had a bit of rain and it was 20C or so. Ideal for midgies and we were on the side of a lovely Highland muir into the bargain.
cool My sister in law has been talking about this corrour station for along time. My days for venturing anywhere near midges countries are wellover. Dan and Bill camped on one of the island in loch lomond ( they went across on their canoe) and came back with 50 odd sheep ticks on their bodies. My tweezer was bury busy that week end. They are are stiil itching after 0ver 10 days. The only I can think of was thank god I didn't go.
Wow What an adventure... Excellent photography, amazing pictures... now I feel sorry that I haven't visited the hills of Orissa whilst there...
Maybe next time.
You have a great blog! Thanks for sharing

Border-brother Hi Warren and Sophie,
I just wanted to let you know that there is someone out there, someone who has never advanced that far east but has always felt the need to travel and (blablabla), who enjoys reading the news in your travel blog. And thanks to your last entry I now know why: Bensheim is only some 5 km away from its neighbouring land/county Baden-Württemberg, in which I have spent about half of my life! (I am not able to put the real meaning behind all this to paper, though, but I’m sure you know, border-brother!).
And here’s an entry from our travel blog: This summer we spent for the second time over the last three years at the foot of King Ludwig’s mad castle and next week we will be staying on a farm in the Black forest for a week That’s where you end up with those little ones. It’s great, though. Well, enough from good old Germany, hope to see you some time some place again, teacher-brother, and teacher-sister,
Love
Hilli

Tier na n'Og Good to hear about your travels back home. I'm presently exploring the wilds of America by mountain bike, seeing what my own country is made of. I'll be in touch more when I'm off the road. In the meantime, greetings from Cuba, New Mexico, hello to your family, and congrats to Sharon and Tommy! Cheers all around!

Missing you already.... Warren, the writing course must be paying dividends! A gracious, funny, entertaining piece of prose. We loved having you around and coming home with you not here just wasn't the same. Hope we'll see you very soon; glad to see the Haste ye backs and the comforts of proximity had some effect. Love from us both, Tommy and Sharon.
Well Done Hello there Warren and Sophie, My dear travelers .I keep on receiving your photos and you are letting me know of your whereabouts and I’m thankful for it ..and Warren you do have a talent for description. You are able to transfer the climate and picture without the picture without a thousand words. In fact if you had taken photos it might had been put down. Not that your photos are bad, on the contrary I think you have improved although you probably haven’t realized. But I was drifted away in that forest of yours and I could imagine any picture I wanted.
By now you must have gathered that I am not coming over. I never left Greece ..Too involved with my new properties. I have my doubts if I’m doing well ..but I suppose I have to go through it. It was my wish for a long time. The problem is though that the opportunity came about 15 years late. I feel I am running out of time. I wish I had 20 more years to be ..youngish so to speak That’s why I love what you are doing and that you are doing it now and not 20 years later .Well Done ..
PS Have a Good Easter. In Greece Easter is celebrated as much as you do in Xmass because sinse Seasons in This part of the world are very distinct Easter triggers the begining of the spring with the fpowers blossoming and birds coming back from south.....Also is selebrated life and love............

If all goes to plan, I'm hoping to be bumming around Asia for a month in September/October so if you're still there I'll get in touch. Hope you're both well, loving your blogs xxx

Ok, so we're not really traveling at the moment. We're back in Edinburgh.
From 2005-2008 we were in Asia and based in Vietnam for over two years of the time. There were plenty of side-trips from Ho Chi Minh to neighbouring cities and countries.
