Back in HK for 2.5 Days. Lots to see and do. We went to Lantau Island and to Tai O fishing Village. Lantau Island Buddah I think is the biggest in the world. I could be wrong. He He. Everything is explained in China as being the biggest, or most famous. We couldn't take the famous cable car because apparently there was an accident before we arrived there so it was closed. We ended up taking a Metro and a bus, and the bus driver was crazy. Lantau Island is mountainess and windy narrow roads, so we get this driver piloting 40 people in a public transport bus zooming around the curves big enough for 1.5 vehicles wide. The trip to the big Buddah by bus lasted 45 minutes and people actually clapped when it was ... read more

Dalin wasn't such a great city for sightseeing, but we did get to eat some great food. We toured around the city and stopped at various places that looked out at some water. I bought a 20 tiered kite which looks awesome when flying. The guy I bought it from let me fly one before. The rest of the time was snapping pics and eating. We were there for a day. Between Dalin and Harbin we took a bus trip to another unnamed city Qu Qu (something.) and stayed overnight. This was a Saturday. When we went for breakfast at 7AM there was no food left! Tons of people had been eating. We could not believe that the food was all gone and we were told to attend breakfast at 7AM. We noticed that the people ... read more

Our last day actually turned out to be Great. We got up and did some Laundry!. Lol WE next headed out to a palace which ended up being the best one we saw. I cannot believe for 3$ we got to see so much. Korea is about half the expense or less of Japan. So if you want a cheap holiday with an Asia flavor this is the place to be. Airport transit to Seoul was just $4 CDN equivelant! 70 KM Wow At the palace we saw the changing of the guard, gardens, and exhibits. The better half dressed up in traditional Korean wardrobe and I snapped a few pics. Sorry no pics today either. They will come when I have a USB port on a safe computer. Next we walked to an antique shopping ... read more

Hi Guys, We almost missed our flight from Japan. That was because we miscalculated the Express train to Narita Airport that left at 8:05. We should have taken it , assuming that the next one was going to come along shortly. Boy were we wrong. It was 1 hour later! Well if you think a Metro station can be crowded you haven't experienced the one in Osaka. Lets just say that the trains come every 3 minutes and are jammed packed solid. That is going both ways. They have a subway car dedicated just for woman, because men are pigs and grope the woman while packed in like sardines. The experience left us appreciating our metro system and how underused it is. You can pack an additional 1000 people in our cars folks. So lets all ... read more

I missed sending a picture of the last place we stayed at. Miyajima is a beautiful island just west of Hiroshima. We are constantly surprised by what we think we are going to see and what we actually see. Language fortunately in some cases brings us surprises. Such as this island. We did not know for example that the deer on this island are tame and everywhere. Anyone can touch and play with them, they are not shy. ( I caught this one playing in the water) We had a great time walking around this island and took a rope cable to the top then walked down 2 km. Little did we know that the walk was down extremely steep hills. This place also boasts the worlds largest rice scoop. It is about 20 feet long. Trust the Japanese to try to make a ... read more

Well, as you know we were getting our feet wet and had a surprise with the bus. After that was settled I got confortable in my Kymono. (See Pic), So did Siu yee with the eating (See pic). I still cannot figure out how to use the damn toilets. The instructions are all in Japanese (See pics). I think I will start a photo montage of Japanese toilets. WE even have a pic of one with a sink on top of it. Every time you flush, the sink starts automatically!!! Wow. We are getting use to the food finally. Pickled stuff, raw fish, rice porridge. and BEER. Yum. We stay a day or 2 in each place and then move on as you can see by the title. In Shirakawago we stayed in a "Minshuku" (Old ... read more

Hi Everyone, We were in Matsimoto and now are in Takayama. Whatever eh! Lol On our way to Takayama from Matsamoto we thought we were getting on the right bus and guess what! We got on the wrong bus. Sue decided to go to the bathroom while we waited for the bus to leave 30 minutes later, but while she was at the loo, the bus and me took off without her. I yelled at the driver in English to wait my wife went to the loo. He stopped the bus and lookked at me and I again said my wife my wife!!! He parked the bus a 100 yards down the street and ran and got Siu yee. 2 minutes later Sue and I decided to look at our schedule and to our horror we ... read more

After leaving HK, our 4.5 hour flight landed us at Narita airport, we took a 1 hour train to Tokyo after we were greeted by a greeter lol and he promptly escorted us in the right direction of course. We needed to go to board the train right away. We noticed things were different at once, rice fields everywhere, cars that were parked, all had folded side view mirrors so they had room to park in their driveways. Some cars were parked on a hydrolic lift so you could put one on top of the other! Houses are so close together you cannot walk between them and there are no front and backyards for the most part. We deposited our stuff at the hotel and went out to eat in an automated Sushi resaurant where all the ... read more

After aclimatizing and adjusting for the time difference, we finally got motivated and decided to meet up with some family and friends. Tuesday we hooked up with our friends Doris and Bernard and went to Sai Kung which is known for seafood. When we arrived we took a Junk to an abandonned Salt Village and walked around. It was spooky. I have a shot of a house that was abandonned in 1992. Everything was left as is and the windows and doors left opened. Other houses were of the same and in more of a disarray. At the end of the day as you can see we stopped for a seafood snack! I can't believe I ate the whole thing! We are off to Japan next.... read more

Hi Everyone, We finally arrived in HongKong under cloudy weather and promptly went to sleep. The trip was long and very tiring. We slept a little and freshened up and then went out to visit. I have always said that you cannot get lost in HK but sometimes the roads can be confusing, so because there are billions of taxis around, we hailed one and he took us back to where we needed to be. The Hotel we are staying at is under construction on the 15th floor and we are on the 9th, we hear the jackhammers and they vibrate. HK is a busy, busy place.... Think of busy St.Catherine Street, Montreal and that is HK everywhere. We are here 3 days.... read more
