Okay so I am a little behind in my blogs but should be able to catch up over the next few days! Travelblog crashed the other day and apparently all the photos in my previous blogs are now black squares. I have to re-load them all again.. wont bother doing that until I get home now.. too hard!! Missing the Flight Sooooo where was I?! Thats right.. we had just had our last night in Chiang Mai and were due to fly out at 10.05am the next morning.... OR so I thought! I don't know what possessed me but Reety got the flight time wrong! I know! Uber-organised Reety!! I had it in my head that our flight was 10.05am for days and for whatever reason didnt bother checking the itinerary. Amelia was out partying so ... read more

Sawatdee bai mai everyone!!! (Happy New Year!!!) ... we have just finished with 3 days of crazy Songkran celebrations! Where do I even start?! Its a bit of a blur... and yes I am sooo behind in my blogs.. Songkran is the Thai New Year and they celebrate by having massive water fights in the street for 3 days - you do get a bit over the whole water thing after about... hmmmm.... 24 hours but hey its all part of the experience!! They also have a high death/injury rate during this time... In the first two days of celebrations there were 97 deaths and almost 1000 injuries! IN JUST TWO DAYS (statistics courtesy of Bangkok Post newspaper!) Water Fights and Weird Rashes I woke up on Saturday to a couple of weird looking bites on ... read more

We have now been in Chiang Mai for 4 days and LOTS has happened.... This blog is going to cover the first two days... with another blog to follow.. maybe today, maybe tomorrow! Settling In To Chiang Mai Day 1 of Chiang Mai was spent settling in after a long train ride.. after arriving at CM Blue House we both had showers and decided to head out for some food and sightseeing... we headed straight to my favourite little restaurant just around the corner that sells 'Suckling Pork'.. I was so craving it! Settled in to order and realised that their menu had changed and there was NO suckling pork anymore! I was devastated!! We ordered other noodle dishes (which were equally as yummy) as well as fruit shakes and the whole meal cost us about ... read more

Our last day in Bangkok was spent touring around the Grand Palace (yes my 3rd and last time...), Wat Po, Wat Arun, Chinatown and the Amulet Markets. We hired my friend Nok, who is a tour guide in Bangkok. She is the same Nok that we will be attending the wedding of in a couple of weeks in Surat Thani. After a breakfast of Banana pancakes, Nok arrived and we set off. The tour we were doing was a walking tour (as well as just using local transport such as the local bus and tuktuks). We caught the ferry down to Chinatown where we wandered around checking out all the food stalls. We decided to try some of the local street foods. First up were these deep fried potato cakes, served chopped up in a plastic ... read more

Soooooo here we are in Chiang Mai.... and after 4 hours of drinking the CHEAPEST cocktails you can imagine I have made my escape to an internet cafe to sober up and left Amelia in the good care of some cute Swedish boy! Man that girl knows how to work it... to be that age again :-( Where do I start?! You see the most bizarre things in Thailand.. which is where you get the phrase "Only in Thailand"... I find myself saying that ALOT!! LOL.... On day 1 we saw a couple of weird things (forgot to mention them in the last blog!) First we were driving along in our tuk tuk where we both noticed a guy squatting on the footpath.. now for those that have been to Thailand you will know this is ... read more

Welcome to my first blog... its been a crazy 48 hours.. and I am struggling for downtime to just do nothing! Where do I even start?! Flying High... Literally Our adventure started bright and early Sunday morning when we flew out of Adelaide, heading for Melbourne for our 'not so cheap' Jetstar flights... I decided that I would brave the hour flight without my newly prescribed Valium so that I wasn't a zombie for the morning in Melbourne Airport... and I must say I was very brave! Upon arrival at Melbourne, we collected our bags, walked the short distance to the International Terminal where we realised that you couldnt check in for your flight until 3 hours before... we lugged our bags to a cafe and the food fest began! Eggs Benedict for brekkie, Champagne for ... read more

Well its almost time to hit the road again... ...its been 14 long months since the last adventure.. and I have to admit this one is a little too short... but now I am in the real world and working its just gonna have to do... Alot of people are always surprised when they hear I am planning 'another' trip to Thailand... why not go somewhere new and different? Well... Even I don't know the answer to that one... I definitely have other countries in my 'to do' list, but Thailand won my heart back in 2006 and its time to get a fix for my craving! I am off for 3 weeks (I know.. devastating!) and traveling with a good friend who I met thru work a year ago.... Amelia aka Milly, Lloydy, Mighty Mouse, ... read more

After heading back to Bangkok early from Chiang Mai on the Overnight train, we headed to Khao San Rd to drop off our luggage at our friends Tong & Chang's shop for the day, and decided to get some last minute shopping done. By this stage we were feeling really crusty having not had a shower for 24 hours, and knowing that we wouldn't get a shower until later that night... We left our stuff with Chang and headed straight for Siam Paragon Shopping Centre. Last time we were in Bangkok we had wanted to visit the Aquarium that is in the basement of the shopping centre, but had run out of time, so this was on our 'to do' list before we left Thailand. Our last few days in Chiang Mai were spent shopping up a storm and taking an essential cooking course... something that is on every tourists 'must do' list while in North Thailand.... so our last blog left us arriving back from the Elephant Nature Park... me still sick, and Rinna getting on the booze with the staff of CM Blue. You Want Me To Poo In WHAT?! *Skip to the next section if you are eating breakfast! LOL* A new day dawned and I wasn't feeling any better. By this stage, after almost 6 weeks of constant diahorrea, I had just about had enough. I was feeling like it was time to go home. We made the decision that I should probably head to a doctor and get things checked out. I had gone from having ... read more

Sorry for the delay between blogs, but I was pretty sick for the last 7-10 days of our trip, and now that I am home (a few days earlier than planned) I can sit in the comfort of my own bedroom and update the last week of our blog.. which I intend to do over a couple of blogs. This blog is based purely on our day at the Elephant Nature Park... We were meant to do an overnight stay the day after we arrived in Chiang Mai but due to me being sick, we made the decision to spend the first day taking it easy and then go for a day trip the following day to the Elephant Nature Park.. for those who have read my blogs from my previous trip you would know that ... read more
