I'm a consultant, so naturally I get to live my life on a plane and get to see some great places across the U.S. However, I suffer from severe wanderlust when it comes to the rest of the world. I make it a priority to get out of the country as often as I can. Exposure to different cultures centers me and makes me feel more connected to the randomness of life. In addition to solo adventures, I'm fortunate enough to have an overflowing amount of international friends, which has helped shape my experiences abroad. I'm excited to share with you a road map as you plan your own wanderlust adventures!

Europe » Germany » Bavaria September 14th 2015

I've been dreaming of driving the southern roads of Bavaria for years, so I was excited that one of my friends got some time off between completing her residency and starting her new job. We added a pit stop in Berlin to our Romantic Road drive due to all of the history. Plus, I was told by my German friend that it's a must see. Berlin (Spend 2-3 days): A dark history has shaped the culture and attitudes. The intertwining of the U.S., French, English and Soviet occupation is palpable. Most people I met spoke at least French and English and likely Polish or Serbian. Where to stay: I would recommend staying the the Mitte area - near Alexanderplatz. It is close to the Berlin Wall Memorial and has quick access to all the other attractions ... read more

I traveled to Panama City, Panama recently for work and decided to to extend my time to tour the city as well as check out the San Blas Islands. Panama City Things to do: Esclusas de Miraflores (Miraflores Locks visitors center): A great place to learn about the history of the Panama Canal and gain a better understanding of how it works. I would recommend watching the movie they show, walking around the small museum/exhibition area, and then going outside to see the boats go by. The restaurant on the top of the building is also pretty good for lunch. Museo de la biodiversidad or BioMuseo (Biodiversity Museum): This museum has gotten a ton of buzz even here in the US and travel magazines. It was designed by Frank Ghery and is located on "El Causeway" ... read more

South America » Brazil » Rio de Janeiro » Rio de Janeiro » Ipanema January 7th 2014

I traveled here with two great friends and we happened to have friends that lived in Rio, Angra/Paraty and Belo Horizonte. While we did a bit of wandering on our own, we were fortunate enough to receive hospitality and recommendations of where to best soak up the culture in each of these cities. Rio de Janeiro You can't help but get swept up in Rio's lively and diverse culture. It makes you wish your ancestors would have diverted their ships south instead of ending up on boring Plymouth Rock. Below are my recommendations on what to do and what to skip if you're time crunched. Areas to stay: Impanema Beach is the best area to stay, solo or with friends, if you’re looking for quick access to the nicest beaches. Hotels are a bit more expensive, ... read more
