The pictures are gorgeous, and it sounds like you're having a great time...but I wish you guys would update more often! SOME of us are slaving away in a cubicle farm and need to live vicariously through you lucky ducks (and yes, we worry when you vanish)! Glad everything's going well!
Missed the blog I was beginning to wonder if you guys had headed west again - glad to hear you are still moving south. How gorgeous the coast is! Cool slug.
Miss You Dear Caleb, Was good to hear your voice last week. We do miss you. Josh has finished our white bathroom and it really looks good. Getting ready for all my company for your dad's cousines reunion. I feel like I run a motel or better yet a hotel as i have to feed them. Hope they don't stay long, as you know, I don't like to cook!!!!
Hurry home!! Love you, Grandmommie
Tour de West Coast Hey, Eric - just before I opened your blog I heard on NPR that Lance Armstrong had finished a strong 10th in the first leg of the Tour de France. I don't know a lot about the race, but apparently it started in Monaco this year, which is different, and the course was described as hilly, beautiful, and a bit exotic. Sounds like you are able to enjoy the scenery a bit more than he is... Congrats on the paper! Pam
Eric, congrats on getting your article accepted for publication! That's fantastic!! And thanks for keeping all of us updated on how you and Caleb are doing on the trip (I was a little worried about him, so it's always nice when you post a new entry).
Wow! Oh to be young again...you might have a tagalong! Sounds like you're having great fun and I must admit that I am jealous!! We got Becka settled into her apartment in Jacksonville. Mark was NOT happy about leaving her alone in a Marine town for a week and a half, but she has become quite saavy and I know she will be fine. She knows Jacksonville like the back of her hand and drives the Dodge Ram like a pro. Beau is scheduled to be home on the 29th and Becka called me yesterday to inform me that he had called and told her to buy a new dress...a long one...(Caleb, I know you fully appreciate how excited she was about this!) for something special he had planned for her when he returns. They hope to get home for the 4th of July. So far the highlight of my summer has been finding LOTS of sharks teeth and some real sea glass on Onslow Beach at Camp Lejeune. See why I'm jealous??? Just kidding...I'm having a ball with my kids!
Caleb, when you get home, PLEASE come by with pictures and tell us all about your travels! We're still anxious to hear about Argentina too!! Take care and travel safely. We're looking forward to hearing more from you soon!
Today I am thankful...that I am not having to pedal your bike up and down all those hills!!!
Love,
Robin
If you see our gov, send him home... Eric, just to keep you up on what's going on in SC, turns out our governor's been missing since Thursday. His wife says she doesn't know where he is, but told her he was going to do some writing. His staff announced yesterday he's hiking the Appalachian trail. Per one of our senators he took a SLED vehicle on Thursday, told his security to stand down, and "Ain't nobody seen from him or heard from him since." He could have prevented all the fuss if he'd done a travel blog :)
Sunrise Hey! I love the blog--I think you should maintain a life blog after this :). I feel your pain on the sunrises--I just moved to a new flat and don't have curtains yet (shops are only open working hours and I conveniently work during those...). The summer solstice was Sunday and sunrise was at about 3:30 (well, sunrise is actually later, but it gets light by then). This morning I woke up, sure I'd overslept my alarm, only to find that it was 3:50. I'm not sure months of no sun + months of too much sun = normal sun average.
Can't wait to hear about the orcas!

Too cool! Wow, snow in June, what fun (unless of course, you are sleeping in it). Brings back camping memories of wrapping my feet in Saran Wrap in a futile attempt to keep them warm. Wouldn't you love to know what the Grizzlies, Bisons, etc are thinking? Big Bison to other Bison: "Hey, it's a Honda Fit - watch this!"
Wow, more cool sculptures - I'm thinking perhaps Charleston could use a few more modern items...but that would be, you know, modern... I do love Charleston's architecture and gardens, though, so I can't complain too much!
My vicarious window Hello! I've decided that since I spend most of my time in my windowless office, I am vicariously traveling through the US via your blog! Seriously, there is a London, Frankfort, and Versailles between Spartanburg and Indianapolis? Who knew? You've got to get the camera going, otherwise I'm just seeing things in my head, as usual...
Happy trails, Pam
This story begins in the middle...
With a few months before returning to school in what is becoming a lifetime of education, we have decided to embark on a summer adventure with the motto 'if not now, then when?'. This blog will recount our adventures cross country, biking the pacific coast, and the return trip to the east coast. Remember that all who wander are not lost!
