Morning Prayer Thank you for bringing morning prayer at the Abbey to life in your journey. I miss being there. One of my favorites is Psalm 137 - seeing the image of harps hanging in the poplars at Hurva Synagogue brought it to life! So grateful for your inspirational photos and writings. Godspeed. Pat
Thanks Thanks for sharing your journey with all of us. I've enjoyed your beautiful pictures as well as your thoughtful commentary throughout these weeks. I wish you continued blessings.
amazing experience How awesome to be locked in the Holy Sepluchre overnight!!! It had to be the most amazing experience...can't wait to hear more about it! I thought it was interesting that the different denominations do not trust each other with the keys to the church so a muslim family has to be the mediator to lock and unlock the doors....
Grateful Mike, I read today's entry while sitting in Old St. Joe's awaiting the start of Morning Prayer. I truly appreciate the beauty of these reflections. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Reflection on two journeys Your reflections on your journey are so appreciated. I, too, have journeyed, first to Minneapolis to help a daughter who made a life decision to resign a stressful job and move to be near our other daughter in San Francisco. Now am in Louisville as another daughter prepares for surgery today. Please keep them in prayer as we hold you. Peace always. Pat
Jesus Knows Us Mike, I have been enjoying your blog, and pictures. I feel like I am traveling along with you. This line from your reflection today really stood out to me: "So next time you feel as if a cock is crowing in your life, be assured that Christ is more than willing to walk along the shores of your story and invite you into His love and mercy." You made such a beautiful connection between what we may feel as separation (cock crowing) and have invited us to realize that Christ is always willing to be with us in love and mercy.
Gathering of the Community of Faith Thanks, Michael. Some liturgists say that the only valid Eucharist is where there is a community of faith gathered. We have become that; and what a privilege to share the Eucharist together in these holy places.
Heartfelt Oh, Michael. Your words ring so true of the horror of the Holocaust, as well as the violence humans continue to do to humans today. For those of us who love and respect the life given by the Creator, it is beyond understanding.
Awesome Acoustics in this Church The acoustics at St. Anne's church are awesome! I was told people come from all over the world just sing in this church. Brad would love it here! We only sang "This Little Light of Mine" when our group was there. I would have loved to hear a song like Ubi Caritas!
Thanks for the Pics Thank you so much for sharing the pictures of Mt of Olives and the rock of the ascension....a couple of my favorite spots in Jerusalem, brought back a surge of feelings. Hope you are enjoying your pilgrimage...
Pat, Glad you are enjoying. Today, I had the chance to visit the Ruins of a Norbertine Church just outside the city of Jerusalem. They were only here from 1157-1187 or so; I will blog more about it later...
Sacred Home of Mary I think Mary's home in Ephesus would have been one of my favorite places by your description. Of course I am drawn to anything having to do with Our Holy Mother and her experience of being a mother... thank you for drawing us into her blessed home with you.
Enjoying your blog! Mike - It's so great to be able to "join" you on your journey! I've enjoyed reading your entries and I look forward to learning along with you! Thanks for sharing your trip with us! May you have safe travels and a wonderful time abroad! I can't wait to hear even more about it in-person when you're back!! Sending you peace and hugs my dear friend!!
XO Steph
