Well i’ll bet you’re all dying to know if we made the concert or not....? Well maybe not, but anyway we made it! It was pretty good, but according to Vince it wasn’t their best. After the concert we headed off to Mitcham - south side of London, so we could beat peak hour Friday morning traffic on the drive to Dover. We arrived at Dover and caught the ferry across to Calais. It was a smooth journey and then came the not so smooth journey - driving on the WRONG side of the road - well right side (which is wrong!) . Once again we needed bloody fuel. So after plugging in more service stations into the GPS and not being able to find a servo we were in another stressful situation! Luckily enough we ... read more

On Monday we drove from Chester to the Lake District which was about a 3 hour drive. We set up camp with Maureen, Alex and David. After one or two or three beers we had a reasonably early night in preparation for our mountain walking the next day. Tuesday morning we set off around 11am to climb Catbell and Maiden Moor. They were both sharp but short climbs and windy as hell when we got to the top. We left Maureen and David and climbed the steepest of the 2 - Maiden moor. Once we got to the top we had a few piccies (see insert) and had some nice cheap home made sanga’s and coffee in our awesome thermas! The way down was something else again - imagine snowboarding style but jumping sideways into rocks ... read more

Just a few photos of Mr Jones (our home for the next 6 months). A few of the features of the old boy: - has a third battery under the driver seat which runs all of the lights and accessories in the van - has an outdoor shower (only cold water unfortunately) but will be good to wash the feet off - but we do have a solar shower which we hang from the roof (outside) and can sit on a camping chair under to wash ourselves when we cant find a roadside stop that has a shower for us - there is a switch to isolate the stereo from the accessories so you dont waste the battery whilst using the stereo and being stationery - Also the stereo has an ipod connection for our newly ... read more

Okay so we have made a couple of slight adjustments to the schedule towards the end of May/ start of June. A bit off the cuff and random, but we have decided to fly to Istanbul, Turkey for around 5 days. a) we really want to see the city/country, b) we are actually going to be there during the Formula 1 Grand Prix, so we have bought 3 day tickets to that as well. WOOOHOOO!! we can't wait for that! Also just wanted to let yas know that the schedule after Oktoberfest is still very much up in the air. In that we aren't exactly sure when we will be in Thailand, and don't know exactly when we will be back in Brissie! (but it will be sometime in November). So dont go buying any flights ... read more

Okay guys here it is...... With only 12 days until we head off into the sunset, things are starting to get rather exciting. Especially now that we have all but completely organised the trip, booked a few things along the way, and bought all of the essentials...... and non essentials, including a bottle of Bundaberg Rum (compliments of Loz!). All thats left to do now is fix Jonesy's gear lever!!!!!! Yes thats right, we havent even driven a single kilometre yet and Jonesy is already off the road. But don't worry, I was able to pull him apart, all to find a small piece of plastic had snapped off the lever, and order a replacement part from France. In fact, I ordered two, just in case it happens again. The gear lever breakage was thanks to ... read more
