12-13-09 Espańola (Hood) Island - Punta Suarez & Gardner Bay (61 Pics to see, click on the numbers at the top of the page to see them all) We were up early 6 AM wake up, 630 breakfast, 715 take the pangas to Espańola Island. It was a dry landing and then we walked 2.5 miles on rocky uneven volcanic ground. We were advised to stay 5 feet away from bull and nursing sea lions. The crew is very nice and accommodating. When there was no hot water for showers this morning, I just called the front desk and asked for help and it was fixed within 5 minutes. Poor Lorin took a cold shower as she didn't realize it wasn't working until she got in. We had scrambled eggs, corn fritters, and fresh fruit for ... read more

Quito to the Galapagos Islands The day started early with waking up at 630 am and breakfast at the Hotel Cartuja which was well done. Eggs however you wanted them, toast, jam, fresh fruit, fresh juice and of course coffee. The coffee was superb. Strong and smooth, just the way we like it. We settled our bill, made reservations for our return and had the hotel call us a cab and we were on our way. We arrived at the airport about 30 minutes early and it was a typical small airport scene, all the counters in one big room, lots of people wandering around, vendors selling sunglasses out of brief cases, etc. There were signs for the airline Aerogal, but our flight number was not listed. We stood around for a bit, looking like deer ... read more

10/20/07 Well it was a long, long, long trip. Starting at my house at 10 am on Thurs 10/18/07 and arriving in Cochin, India at 1:00 am. Saturday 10/20/07. Of course I lost a day due to time differences, but it was still a very long flight, layover in Singapore and flight from SP to Cochin. The flight from SP to Kochi was a bit bumpy and the plane was full to the gills. I was a bit uncomfortable and found it hard to relax and rest, even though the type of plane I was on had good seats. It’s just hard to sit next to someone for several hours without touching or bumping them and not feel uncomfortable. I arrived at Customs at the Cochin Airport at about 1:00 a.m. Indian time. Customs was easy ... read more

Sac-SFO-Singapore October 18-20, 2007 The flight from SFO stopped about half way at Inchin, Korea to let off passengers and take on new ones. We had to get off the plane with all of our carryon luggage (I didn’t have much thank goodness), wait in line, get a sticker to identify us as “in transit”, wait in another line, get screened and have our carryon baggagce screened. Finally we were able to wander around and stretch our legs in the airport for about 30 minutes and then it was time to get back on the plane and make our way to Singapore - 6 more hours. I was able to sleep a bit on the last leg, but it is sure hard to sleep sitting up. Once I got to Singapore around 12:30 a.m. and got ... read more
