Day 1 we are out and about! Kimberley is a very cute town with a Bavarian feel to it. The town square is called the Platzl and it has all kinds of interesting shops and restaurants. We found some great free parking especially for Platzl customers and were able to walk the entire square. There was everything from souvenirs to outdoor equipment! After going into a few shops we wanted to warm up so we stopped at this cute bakery and sat inside for a while eating out donuts. After that we looked around a bit more and finding that we were getting hungry, decided to go back to the condo for lunch. We made it! The roads were clear and we had no problem getting here. We had a little trouble getting into the condo. 1) The building isn't marked so we had to walk around until we figured it out and 2) The code to the elevator had been changed so we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs with all our luggage and groceries. But we made it without incident and are settling in for a nice vacation.... read more

Stopped to get some food, use the bathroom, and exchange our American currency for Canadian. The teller was funny..."Someone told me that it smells like maple syrup but every time I say that to a Canadian they laugh. I'm not sure if it's a running joke or what." The money is different...it feels like flimsy plastic and is bright & colorful, like Monopoly money. We are currently about 60 miles from the border and I keep finding myself obsessively checking and rechecking my bag for my passport. I know that it will be there but I keep looking anyway. ? I packed food so I wouldn't need to get any on the way...so once everyone else finishes their sandwiches we will once again be underway!... read more

I'm so excited to have the opportunity to travel outside of the country, even if it is to the Frozen North ?❄️ But with that comes all of the anxieties of traveling. What to take & what to leave behind? Clean the house from top to bottom or just a quick once-over? At what setting should I leave my thermostat while I'm gone? Do I have all I will need or did I miss some crucial item/detail that will leave me helpless when the situation comes and I'm not prepared but everyone is counting on me to be prepared but I'm not so now everyone is disappointed & we all die?
