Wow! What a piece of work to organize Tanzania. But now it's done :) Tomorrow morning I fly to the Selous Game Reserve. Time to relax a bit and enjoy the last couple of hours on beautiful Kipepeo Beach. Geo: -6.82, 39.28Today I made some progress. Since I have no phone I was forced to email back and forth with a safari company in Arusha. I'm not getting into the details here but let me just say everything in Tanzania takes a lot of time and patience... ;)But at least it looks like I found a safari at a reasonable price. Only thing is, it's at the very end of my stay and it's gonna be pretty tight with my flight to Morocco. Will know more tomorrow. Geo: -6.82, 39.28Today I spent pretty much the while day researching safari tour companies. Erna was looking too and so was Annemarie, who found a private party organized by a tour operator. In the evening we met for beers at the beach bar where I was introduced to John, who manages a lodge at the Selous Game Reserve. He suggested also a visit to this huge park in southern Tanzania for a boat safari to see Hippos. Den heutigen Tag verbrachte ich mit der Suche nach Safari-Angeboten. Erna und Annemarie fanden auch einige Veranstalter, einer davon suchte Reisende fuer eine private kleine Gruppe. Am Abend trafen wir uns fuer ein paar Bier an der Strandbar. She invited me to Zanzibar and Arusha in the north. That's where I planned to go anyway. To see Mt. Kilimanjaro and to go on Safari in the Serengeti. Verbrachte den Tag am Strand und traf mich mit Erna und Dale spaeter an der Bar. Dort traf ich deren Freundin Annemarie. Geo: -6.82, 39.28Another Flugtag ;) Africa, here I come :)We departed about an hour late ending up getting another plane. But the flight to Tanzania with Emirates Airlines was another highlight. First flying over Dubai's forest of skyscrapers and then across the endless Arabian Desert before turning south over the Indian Ocean. Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam I experienced the expected little chaos in front of immigration which took almost an hour to get through. Not just because half the computers were not working but also due to the randomness people were picked and processed out of the waiting crowd. No lines. Then my $50 bill for the entry tax was rejected because it was printed before 2003. So I gave them a $100 bill from 2006. Needless to say I got my passport back ... read more
