Geo: -6.16001, 39.1968Christmas in Zanzibar! Got picked up by a bush pilot, stopped at another airstrip to take aboard an English family and headed for Dar es Salaam airport for more passengers. Then off to the island of Zanzibar. Checked into the "Swahili House" hotel in Stone Town and went for a walk through the narrow alleyways of this historic quarter. Booked a snorkeling trip to Prison Island for tomorrow with receptionist Sheyla who found me a boat for $20. Christmas dinner and drinks with the staff on the empty rooftop of the "Swahili House" with a panoramic view of the harbor and Stone Town.

Geo: -9.13206, 37.2982After a night full of mysterious sounds of the African bush I enjoyed breakfast with the Swedish family and went for a walking safari with Kiki, our guide. More than a monkey wasn't in the cards, though. In the afternoon I went on the boat safari I missed yesterday and saw crocodiles and whole herds of hippos. Dinner with the Swedish family down by the river banks.

Geo: -8.73376, 37.6453The bush pilot flew the only passenger of the day to one of the airstrips surrounding Selous NP. Me! ;) Alone in a 12-seating aircraft! Got picked up by safari guide Kiki and drove to the Rufiji river to take a boat over to the Selous Wilderness Camp. Natasha, the manager welcomed me to this oasis of luxury deep in the African savannah. For the afternoon a boat safari is planned. But we're still waiting for a Swedish family to arrive and have some late lunch. And then it happened. The boat safari guide takes the Swedish girls but forgets about me in the tent and takes off with them. Fuck! Now I wasted not only the day waiting but will also miss the jeep safari tomorrow afternoon. Idiot! BUT, a delicious dinner with ... read more
