wonderful description You have described Ottawa very well, I stay here and I quite agree with what you have written. I am planning to visit Niagara soon..
YIKES! Sorry for the late reply, I don't check my blog too much lately. Wow, I had no idea about that! My recommendation is to stick to the bakeries in Laos, they're pretty safe. Thanks for the comment!
Poison in Laos People were poisoned while visiting Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. Doctors had done colonoscopies on subjects in Minneapolis USA and found internal organs infections cause by chemical poisoning. Tourists died within 2 months of their visit to Laos particulary Lao-American citizens who went to visit their relatives in Laos. International investigation is not yet confirmed. But every one should be concious of this problem.
I have to laugh at your remarkable powers of direction. Literally LOL funny. Not to mention the picture of the infamous Grolsch shirt and wandering drunk eye.
Hey Tom Nice that you're back writing, really enjoyed reading it:). Hope you'll have some photos from the Falls to upload here, would be cool to see them. It's on my "wanna travel there and see it"-list! Take care!
Allow me to explain... Hey John, sorry you didn't like my opinion of Copenhagen. But I think you didn't understand all of it. So please allow me a rebuttal. First off, "Copenhagen" is a brand of chewing tobacco here in Canada; I was making a joke. As for Christiania, well, I don't know when the war against the police started, but this blog is almost a year old now so you'd have to tell me if that was the case back then. I know I read something about that when I came back home, but from my brief experience there, I didn't see any of it. And I can only write about what I feel and see.
And yes, the city did seem to be lacking something for me, but if you read the full blog (not sure if you did) please remember that I was in a bad mood to begin with, and it's hard to enjoy something when you're already crabby. That being said, you make an excellent point about meeting some locals on MySpace and going out with them. I'll definitely look into that the next time I go travelling!
Look, you obviously love your city, and that's great! It is a beautiful city, but it just didn't do it for me. Sorry! But like I said, I can only write what I feel and see; not everyone's gonna like it.
I can not recognize my own city, Copenhagen. First of all... we do not chew tobacco at all here. Its Sweden thats famous for that. Its almost impossible to find chewing tobacco in the shops. I dont know any danish people chewing tobacco. but ofcause we have some swedish people living here in Denmark who knows where to find chewing tobacco in Denmark. I dont.
And about Christiania. Its illegal to smoke hash, marijuana, pot and any other drug. The police attacks almost the illegal pot market in Christiania every day. We have street fights... police against pro-active designing own life people. Last week police shot a dog and the all hell broke out with armies of stone throwers agains police with rubber all guns. Fire in the streets. Its a regular war from our right winged goverment to everything different.
So the goverment do NOT allow pot. They allow some heroin use as they dont know what to do with a heroine user when they arrest them. So they dont.
if the city lacked vibe and athmosphere... then you did a poor job finding all the cool clubs and places. Too bad for you.
Good advice: make a danish friend before you come here. Use myspace or something to find someone your age and for example music or politically preferences. Whatever suits you.
Why does alot of young people move from Oslo and Stocholm (capitals of Norway and Sweden) to Copenhagen? and almost uncountable few danish people do the opposite? because Copenhagen is a super cool city unless you are poor. Then it sux!

Thank You Once again Thank You for sharing your amazing adventure with us. I hope your "real" life is fulfilling on all levels, especially the "starry eyed" GIRL way (imaginary or not). Take care of your hot self, and Thanks again!
It's coming! It's coming, I promise! It revlolves around me getting drunk at the Carlsburg brewery and a creepy columbian dude! I'm busy this week, but I should be able to get it done!
No hope!! I have given up!! The wait for the long anticipated final blog has driven me to madness! I'm saddened by my loss of hope, I can no longer wait... Please help me!!
Hey! Hey Sprucemoose, glad I'm not the only one who thought that about Copenhagen! Don't feel bad about not going in - I don't think I would've either if it was dark, and I'm used to travelling alone! ...Hey Michelle, not sure if that's the Mission Impossible themesong or not, but how the hell do you type that out anyhow? And as for the sheets, well they served their purpose of saving me money, so I let them go. And yes, you do go to too many weddings! Start photographing funerals, that's where the money is at, my friend! ...Hey Sherman, you're welcome! I'll give you a Grolsch one too if you'd like! And yeah, visiting the Heineken brewery would've been fun, but I made up for it by visiting the Carlsburg brewery in Copenhagen. That was an adventure! A sloppy, drunken adventure! ...Hey Sarah, so you have some similar feelings about Copenhagen too? Yee ha, I'm not a total bastard! I didn't go to Helsingnor, although I thought really hard about it. I chose to go to Aalborg to see the viking gravesite instead, so I had to give it a miss. I came home a few days before the Denmark-Sweden game too - that sucked! I would've killed to be in the stands for that, especially to see the end! As for us travelling cloggies, I'm not sure why we travel so much, but dammit, are we fun! I've met tons of dutch travellers, and they're usually fucking crazy! I love that! Talk to you all later!
Dutchies in Denmark Hey...so I was just in Copenhagen for two weeks, probably the same time you were there. Looks like we have a few things in common as I also have Dutch parents and have inherited the wanderlust. Anyways, I agree with you in some respects about Copenhagen. The city is pretty standard Northern European and the Mermaid is tiny. Did you think about going a little north though? You could have seen the Hamlet Castle in Helsingnor which is pretty cool. The coastline across from Sweden is also amazing. It's my opinion that the people always make the place worthwhile. Too bad you didn't meet up with some real Danes, were you there for the football match between Sweden, that game made history and will be a plaguing Denmark for a long time! I think that was the night I really saw the true Danish spirit come out. Anyway, what is it about Dutch people and traveling? I can't quite figure it out, probably because I can't stay in one place long enough to think about it. Hope the rest of your travels going well. Stay away from HI. Find an independent place. Tot laater! - Sarah
