Searching for enlightenment Baga Beach would not be my cup of tea but I'm not the demographic they are trying to attract.Nice sunset. I got a chuckle out of you reading the book in the pizzeria and the lights going out except for theirs. Perfect. Let us know about the other place you scoped out for dinner the next night.
Let us know about the quiet
Yes, everyone needs to find their own beach so to speak. I was looking for a place where I could interact with as many Indians as possible. If you're referring to the restaurant where I pampered myself after my fall, it's called "Go with the Flow" located in Baga.
Difference between falling and landing The moment while I was hovering in the air was kind of surreal and fun. It was the moment I hit the rocks that lacked in the fun department.
Oh, my! Yes, that split second between the start of the descent and the actual landing is usually accompanied by dread and more than a few choice curse words. It's funny how you know when a bone is broken. I broke my kneecap several years ago, (note to self: do NOT do this again!) and I'm still gun-shy about falling.
Injuries What really impressed with me was how long the whole moment while I was airborne seemed to last. You sound like you are quite good at predicting broken bones. I hope, besides your kneecap, you do not have extensive experience.
transcendental happiness Sounds as if you reached enlightenment in Goa, Tommy. And you didn't even have a Hare Krishna sultana & honey sandwich. Smile on...
Goa "none of the stopping and staring found in other parts of India". I hear each state of India is quite different. Sounds like you are experiencing that applies in Goa in spades.
Goa I think each state in India are very different from one another, but Goa is like a whole nother world all together. Must remember to thank the Portuguese next time I see them.
Sleep with one eye open Something about being in India led me to believe that they were just falling off. But you're probably right. Mental note to never marry a Goan or Thai.
Surviving Varanasi You not only survived but you embraced Varanasi. Gotta say 8 days in Varanasi was a master stroke Tommy. You would otherwise have only experienced a brushstroke of the extraordinary palette you embraced. The fort looks and sounds a highlight.
Thank You You're right. The fort and the boat trip was definitely a highlight. I always like to give myself a long linger at places to allow these highlights to materialize.
I am 41 years old. I am currently living in New York and enjoying my life as a semi-retired teacher. Although I spend a most of my time in domestic tranquility it is my aim to take one major solo trip each year. My three most recent journeys are a pilgrimage through the Holy Land, a crazy month in Cambodia, and a return to India. Life is one gloriously unpredictable mess. My travels have taken me to many different places and I hope to experience and venture out to many more.
I have filled in many of the gaps between my 2000 graduation up until today. Well apart from the five years living in... full info
