First (half)Day ... I am proudly becoming a pro on catching the last minute schedules. We were just on time for the 13:00 Ferry schedule from Macau to Kowloon. We were running again, and I had to show the apologetic face to the rest of the passengers when we finally boarded (hidden meaning: IT'S NOT OUR FAULT, THEY LET US IN!). It's such a gloomy day ... I don't like it, it makes me sad; it was raining in Macau when we left and I was hoping for a better weather in Hong Kong but noooo! it was gloomy the whole day so we slept the day off ~ exhausted from the walk and walk in Macau anyway. Although we woke up in the middle of the night because we were already starving. So we strolled ... read more

Pre-MacauEvents Just another "we will miss the flight!" scare; feels like crying just the thought of it(a.k.a huhuhu, i don't want to waste PHP9,000++)! Of course we still made it to the Airport ;) we were the last ones to board. Just to be informed that our flight will be delayed for 30 minutes. Our plane finally took off at around 8:30ish. It was just a small plane, just as small as the ones used in the domestic flights. More than an hour after taking off, we were informed that our plane was having technical difficulties and that we were going back to Manila; the last thing I would want to hear in the middle of the flight - it freaked me out! The flight attendants couldn't assure the fate of our flight. Just as we ... read more

Thanks to Manong Manuel for buying our tickets back to Cebu. Our Ferry was scheduled to leave Tagbilaran City at 5:30 PM. Just an FYI, there’s a sort of Korean invasion going on in the Philippines right now, from Korean soap operas, Korean singers, Korean actors to Korean Tourists, everywhere I go, there they are - lots of them at the Tagbilaran pier. I definitely don’t have anything against it because they help boost the Philippine tourism and Korean Kiddies are the cutest! (next to my nephews/nieces and my little cousins.hehe). We were just contemplating, it seems that half of South Korea is already in the Philippines (^^)/ Annyong ha shimnikka! *V sign* The 2 hours Ferry ride from Tagbilaran to Cebu seemed like foreveeeerrrr! We arrived in a half lighted Cebu as most of the ... read more

Cramming! That’s what we’re good at. We didn’t start booking for our accommodation and Ferry tickets until the day before our flight. The Ferries to our main Bohol destination, Tagbilaran City were all fully booked and the hotels were giving us a hard time too. We were able to sort everything out by paying more than what we budgeted and taking an alternative route to Tubigon, Bohol. Straight from work, we headed to NAIA Airport to catch our 08:00 o’clock flight which took off 20 minutes behind schedule with (the) Capt. Cuneta explaining, "Hello, this is your Captain. Sorry for the delay, it’s because of some incompetent fools in @&$*#^@%@* ". Some individuals surely pissed him off. We had a bumpy take off … bumpy ride! I wanted to tell our dear captain ... easy :) ... read more

There were 9 people supposedly coming with us for this trip, then one by one everyone was backing out until there was just Janet and I as the last ones standing. The expected one and a half bus ride from Cubao (Metro Manila) to Olongapo City took us three hours; someone probably miscalculated (ehem!). Olongapo City is quite organized, less dirty and well managed compared to Manila. Adjacent to the City was our main destination, The Tree Top Adventure which was located at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (where until 1992 was once the largest United States naval base in Asia). We did not exactly know how to get to there, so I have previously asked for directions from a Tree Top employee. The direction given was to take the Victory Liner bus from Metro Manila ... read more

We went to yet another out of town trip; the main destination was Baguio and then La Union to try surfing (Me, wanting this so bad more than anyone else, I think). We went to the bus station to buy tickets but we were not able to anticipate the number of people going out of town for the long weekend. Monday was a public holiday so the busses for Baguio were fully booked and the next trip would be 05:00AM the next day! Is this the beginning of a disaster? Of course there was no Plan B, just an immediate Plan B made on the spot -- we had to revise the itinerary. We would go to La Union first before Baguio, or find another route, maybe go to Dagupan, then to Baguio and to La ... read more

I think it was more than 16 hours flight from Manila to Amsterdam and finally another one hour flight from Amsterdam to Manchester. We were on a French plane, the food wasn’t much of my liking but it filled me in anyway. I managed to watch at least four movies until the monitor stopped working so I had to content myself listening to music for the rest of the flight. It was the longest time I’ve ever been sitting, getting sleep was too hard, and I was getting so bored. "Aren’t we there yet?” the words were going over and over in my head. With two of my colleagues, we finally arrived in Schiphol Airport, I was already feeling sick and was enduring a very upset stomach - welcome to England! Being from the Far Eastern ... read more

Hanno would usually plan out of town trips to make sure we don’t just stay in bed and get bored in our apartments during the weekends, and Cathryn had to be dragged along (driving for us.aw!). They would usually take us out of Manchester on the weekends to show us how beautiful the rest of England is! I’ve been hearing about Lake District from my colleagues who have been planning to go and from the people in the office who constantly warn us about its rainy weather. Sheep … sheep … sheep more sheep and neatly trimmed country side grass. Driving around country side would always involve sheep and our amusement over the short grass. If you wonder why I’ve been mentioning about our amusement to it, is because in the Philippines, if you go to ... read more

The hair color were mostly blond. Although I see quite a diversity of races, majority of the people I bump unto are fair skinned, blue/green/light brown eyed. They speak in a familiar language but in a different accent that was lovely to listen to but hard to comprehend. Yes, I would struggle whenever I had to talk to my British colleagues. I had to listen intently, look straight at them, eliminate the other sounds around and absorb the words as fast as I can or else I won’t understand a thing. It’s quite funny how English could be so different in this part of the world. To me, a "Coach" had always been a person guiding players in a basketball or a football team but here it turned out to be a "Bus". When someone told ... read more
