Me: Um...no, I'm from England. American Man: Uh? What city are you from? Me: London. American Man: Ah, so you're from Britain. Why didn't you say? Kunming, in many ways, reminds me of Dalian. It's clean (for China anyway), modern and for the first day or so I felt like I hadn't moved anywhere different. It's the number of Westerners I encountered that hit me as different. Kunming, as opposed to Dalian, is definitely on the tourist trail and it can seem dificult to get away from them (see dialogue above). We didn't actually do a great deal in Kunming.
