Yay! I'm finally in Sydney! I flew out last night from Bali at 11pm after having my last supper with Kim (an English girl who I met on the plane) and hoped I would fall alseep. Of course, I hoped too much and maybe caught 30min-1 hour of sleep out of the 5.5 hours it took to fly. When I landed, I couldn't find my luggage. I spent an hour looking and hoping my luggage would turn up, but nothing. The guys who worked at the airport were so nice and helpful and there it was: my backpack on a different carousel! I was relieved. So, I then took the train to get to my hotel. $16 AUSD. EEK! I was so used to getting $2 taxi rides from Thailand/Cambodia that I began to realize this ... read more

What a lovely birthday in Bali! I slept in for the first time since my whole trip started and it felt so nice! I had breakfast and layed by the pool, had a nice lunch, and went off to the beach to meet up with Chris, the local who taught me how to surf. From Kuta, we headed to Nusa Dua beach. The beach was nice with clear blue warm water. Its definitely less touristy and very quiet. It was there I realized I lost my sunglasses :( Sigh. Oh well. After about an hour, we went off to another beach that was lovely. You basically walk down through a cave and as soon as you're out of it, the cave opens up to a beautiful, white sandy beach. It was gorgeous! We sat, enjoyed the ... read more

What a fabulous day! I was beginning to think that Bali wasn't all that great, since my hotel is located in a very touristy area. Tons of people walking around, which is kinda cool, but I prefer a more relaxed setting. I started the day by hiring a driver to drive me to various places in Ubud. Ubud is a village located outside of Kuta, approximately an hour and a half drive. There, I saw wood carvers and silversmiths working their magic. It was quite cool. Then I was taken to the rice terraces. OMG! Breathtaking. I decide to make the trek down through the terraces, which took a bit of work as it was so hot! I climbed back and on my way, I lost my balance and stepped in mud. My Toms were covered ... read more

Long day. Woke up and headed to check out more temples in Angkor and Ta Phrom Temple, the temple where they filmed Tomb Raider with the tree. The temples were awesome but it was so so hot! I just wanted to get back to an air conditioned hotel room. When I arrived back around noon, I decided it was time for a massage. I got a full body, hot oil and stone massage for $8 for 1 hour! Yay! And it was awesome! I just wish I had more time here to take advantage of it. Afterwards, headed out to FCC restaurant, as recommended by Ian and Fredrik :) It was lovely and the best part was the fruit shake made of the freshest fruit of the season. It was the yummiest thing ever! My driver ... read more

I'm home after just a short time out with friends. I went out with Olivia and Sam (the Canadian girls) and had a lovely dinner of pizza and beer while being entertained by Cambodian traditional dancers. I was feeling weird earlier in the day with a bad tummy, so I took some antibiotics that my doctor prescribed me. Dinner didnt affect me and I thought I was fine. After about 20 minutes, I could start feeling my tummy didnt like any food and I started to feel naseous! Uh oh...I think it was time for me to head home :( I had to cut my time at the night market short, but at least I can try to catch up on some sleep. I pray that I'll be ready and well for tomorrow when I check ... read more

I landed in Siem Reap yesterday. Of course, the weather is still unbearably hot and humid. I met a lovely couple, Jon and Ellen on the plane. Not sure why I seem to meet couples, but it just so happens that I do. We spoke of travelling and life and made plans to meet up for dinner when we got into Siem Reap. As for my hotel, it is quite large, decently nice, and clean. It definitely isn't as nice as my other place in Phnom Penh, but it will do. I took a quick nap when I arrived in my hotel and decided it was time to head straight to the pool. It was lovely and the water was perfect! After about an hour, I took a shower and got myself ready to do some ... read more

Cambodia breaks my heart. I have spent 2 days here in Phnom Penh and the country is one of the poorest countries in the world. I have seen so much proverty and it really breaks my heart. It is quite dirty here and people leave trash on the streets (I'm assuming someone picks up the trash that is left in a pile). I see people digging through the trash, hoping to find something worth having. People have told me that in this country, the wealthy are extremely wealthy and the poor, well, they fight for survival. Anyway, I woke up and headed out to the Royal Palace and the National Museum. The places are spectacular and the Golden Buddha displayed is beautiful. The weather was quite humid and hot with a scorching 90 degrees (30 degrees ... read more

OMG! What is up with traveling from place to place. First, I had to buy a new Eurostar ticket in Paris, second, I almost missed my flight from London to Amsterdam, third, I had issues flying from Amsterdam to Bangkok cause I had a lay over in Moscow and they were hassling me about how I needed a visa for Moscow, and the final straw: my flight was never fully booked cause my travel agent's credit card didn't go through! OMG! So I had to buy a new ticket from Bangkok to Phnom Penh. UGH! Next time, I think I'm going to do everything myself and not go through a travel agent! I know I'm better at it than they are...but I just didnt want the hassle of finding everything when I was crunched on time. ... read more

I slept in my first night in Thailand and what did I find? A cochroach with wings! Thank goodness I was able to kill it before it decided to fly all around my room. I dont even have any food in here :( I am not fond of cochroaches, or any bugs for that matter! My experience today is so much better than what I had last night. I can't say anything good about the weather. Apparently they only have 3 seasons here in Bangkok: hot, hotter, and hottest. I came in their hottest season and its a whopping 37 ÂșC (98 F) with humidity. Last week was 42 degrees, so at least its a few degrees cooler, although it doesn't feel like it. Went on my way to see the Grand Palace and Wat Traimit. ... read more

I am officially in Bangkok and feeling the heat. It is extremely humid and hot and I start feeling gross as soon as I step foot out of my hotel. The flight here was a bit weird. I had a connecting flight in Moscow, where the airport was hot and smoking was allowed (which I couldn't stand!). Then my 9 hour flight from Moscow to Bangkok was uncomfortable. I was surrounded by old, Russian men. Nevermind, I had an empty seat separating the two of us. Little did I know, that would soon end: one of the old men moved over, sat next to me, gave me an awkward smile and I then sat next to this old guy for the next 8.5 hours. =( I asked him kindly to move back to his seat, but ... read more
