Day 1 - London - 30th July Finally, I somehow manage to arrive on the African continent. I say somehow as due to packing fiascos; have I packed enough, have I packed too much, could it be repacked better, forgetting to pack stuff (I own 3 pairs of sunglasses but managed to pack none!) and other little dramas along to way I somehow manage to arrive in Nairobi. Even when my standby ticket was confirmed and having 20 minutes to get threw security, to the gate and onto the aircraft; not even having to run and step round people like Cristano Ronaldo does with a football managed to stop me! However, I manage to arrive but my luggage didn’t, wait for a couple of hours to be told that my bag was still in London …. ... read more

London. Isn’t it just the greatest city in the world? Ok, maybe I am a bit bias about that statement. Living in London; a sprawling metropolis, a mismatch of cultures, ethnically and linguistically. It also has to be noted that it is one of the most expensive cities in Europe. As a result of having evening appointments and a Travelcard; I decided to do some of the touristy stuff that I haven’t done since I was little I get up to Charing Cross at about 1030, walked up to Trafalgar Square, where the pigeons are already out in force looking for tourist to feed them, pissing off everybody else! Their seems to be lots of people already out in force, sitting on the waterfalls, wondering around taking photos; posing in front of the waterfalls or on ... read more

Day 4 Wednesday was mainly wasted due to the night’s activities; we both woke up at 5pm. We decided to go of to Baga; which is the big touristy spot of Goa. The taxi dropped us all the way at the bottom on Baga beach, we went and found this lovely restaurant that was actually on the beach, it was all open aired under roofing, the tables and chairs being cleared away during the day, just being used as a bar area. The waiter came over and we ordered; I ordered a Goan fish curry and Sam ordered some kind of prawn dish, we ordered two sides (or what we thought were sides at the time), two naan breads (one as a starter whilst we waited for our meals and one with the meals) and a ... read more

Day 1 Arrived on Sunday afternoon, after a long long trip from London via Larnica. This isn’t the story of the trip to India I had planned when getting my visa but I got to kill two birds with one stone; a trip to India and to spend a week with the girlfriend. Sam, my girlfriend is crew for Monarch but this detail didn’t mean that I got dealt with any quicker at immigration. I like everybody else stood in the queue being pushed pulled, shoved around like cattle. I suppose it was the kind of organized chaos that I should have expected from India. Eventually, got though and after having my visa looked at in intense scrutiny, my passport got stamped. Reclaimed my bag from the carousel and changed up some American dollars into Rupees, ... read more

25th Feb On the 3 ½ hours round trip back to Buenos Aires I didn’t really sleep that much and to be honest I think I was still quite hungover as when I collected my rucksack as I had managed to get it checked in this time, there was a big queue which I joined thinking it was some kind of landing fee so I handed over my $10 US bill and gave the address I was staying at like everybody else. I was putting my hostel details back in my daypack and this hand grabs my rucksack, I was like what the fuck and ran after the man who had taken it. This man chucked my bag into the boot of a car and he was about to shut it when I grabbed it back ... read more

On Friday did the groucho tour to see how the people live in the pampas area of Argentina. To be honest the actually tour was pretty rubbish; the food was quite dry, like it had been overcooked, don’t drink red wine and actually the only thing that saved it was that the live performances were absolutely outstanding, you know more tango and stuff. Anyways, whilst I was there I got talking to this Dutch guy, Pieter; he was really a cool and interesting guy. The journey on the coach home was spent talking to him about everything and anything, football, politics and travelling. Instead of getting off at my hostel, I got off with him and we went for a couple of pints and then he should me a really good little steak house. The whole ... read more

18th Feb 09 Day 2 of my trip and so far it's been quite enjoyable. Arrived at my hostel yesterday at about midday and was knackered. I slowly unpacked my rucksack and got changed. I set out and started to wonder, not to any particular place but just around. Actually, I spent most of the day doing that, wondering around the different barrios admiring the beautiful building. Eventually, I wondered back to my hostel at about 7pm and Florida Street; where my hostel was located was full of various traders selling there various wears in the middle of the street as the street is quite wide. My plans for the evening were dashed as my original plan of doing an organized tango experience which included dinner and a couple of tango lessons followed by entrance to ... read more

10 - 12 - 08 Arrived at the airport in Cape Town and queued to get though immigration, approached the desk and I was greeted by a very friendly fellow; we exchanged niceties and then he issued me with the temporary visa and stamped my passport. I’m actually a bit of a passport whore; I love getting my passport stamped and getting visas put in it! I was exiticed; I had always wanted to come to Africa, ever since I met a Chinese couple in Naples and Cape Town seemed liked the safest place on Africa I thought for a while that my luggage hadn’t made it to Cape Town; just because of the time it took my luggage to make it to the carouse! I got talking to this girl who also waiting for her ... read more

29.10. 08 We landed at JFK International Airport at about 3pm local and made our way slowly though immigration. After clearing customs we left the airport and made our way to the transport that was waiting for us. The journey to the hotel took what seemed like an eternity, caught in New York rush hour traffic to the Grand Central Fitzpatrick in downtown Manhattan. We arrived into at the hotel at around about 5pm and checked into our rooms; we arranged to meet up in the bar at 7pm for a few drinks before heading out to do some serious sightseeing. Me and my friend Debbie started out grand sightseeing tour by walking up to Times Square, from the hotel we walked 2 blocks uptown then 5 blocks west to Times Square. We were greeted with ... read more

03 - 10 - 08 Have no idea what happened last night as we woke up back in the hotel with a little bit of money left; Will was exactly the same. We looked at our watches and we were running late for our flight down to the airport. It was 1200 when we left and we wanted to leave an hour earlier, we quickly packed our bags and went downstairs to reception, checked out and grabbed a taxi to Maglev station. The traffic was awful; we were quite worried as we thought that we wouldn’t make it. We just about had enough money to pay the taxi driver and had 120RMB (£12) left; we weren’t worried about this, we would just take some more cash out from a cash machine, simple enough we thought!
