Our Introduction to Asia 2006

Our introduction to Asia took place over a seven month period of travel in 2006, before I had access to the travel blog, so unfortunately it will not be accompanied by specific entries from visits along the way. However, I recently - as in eleven years later - discovered some emails I had written describing the trip in three parts. And so I am - much after the fact - posting our first impressions of Asia.

It is so important to mention this trip - even though it is after the fact, as it was our first introduction to the Southeast Asia that we have come to love over the subsequent years. We began our travels in Thailand, then moved on to explore Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, including as well some time on the the east coast of Australia, the Great Barrier Reef, and camping adventures in New Zealand. It was the trip that has inspired the subsequent destinations for the Dreamchasers Great Adventure of 2013, The 2014 Continuing Adventures of the Dreamchasers, Dreamchasers 2015, 2016, 2017, and soon Dreamchasers 2018.

Then, just as now, although the landscapes are breathtaking, it is the energy, the cultural diversity, and the beautiful smiles of the people we meet along the way that continually entice us to return to this part of the world. The love affair continues.
