Axels cousin, Claudia picked us up and we went to Potsdam. Potsdam is the capital and largest city of the German federal state of Brandenburg. It directly borders the German capital, Berlin, and is part of the Berlin/Brandenburg Metropolitan Region. It is situated on the River Havel 24 kilometres southwest of Berlin's city centre. There we went to the Sanssouci. Sanssouci is the summer palace of Frederick the Great, King of Prussia. The palace was designed/built by Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff between 1745 and 1747 to fulfill King Frederick's need for a private residence where he could relax away from the pomp and ceremony of the Berlin court. Today everyone was leaving Snarret and heading to the farm. At the last minute, Axel and I decided to drive to Oslo and get a room close to the airport as we were flying out to Germany the next day. Andy and Gry graciously loaned us the car. We spent the day walking around the harbour front in Oslo looking at boats of various sizes and types. We had dinner on the boardwalk at Jamie Oliver’s where our waitress was a young lady from Winnipeg. She has two university degrees in English and dance and has moved to Oslo with her boyfriend she met at an exchange. Beautiful day on the water tubing, water skiing and sitting on the beach. Had a fantastic traditional in the region precious out on the patio, bread, and cheeses. Plus, we got ready packed up and headed to the lake. Andy, Gry. That’s a, Andrea’s, Elly, and myself in one vehicle and Hege her in her own vehicle. Oscar and Edvin stayed behind. We went to kroden. The lake stretches about 41 kilometers (25 mi) north from the village of Krøderen in Krødsherad on its southern end and reaches north to the village of Gulsvik in Flå municipality in the valley of Hallingdal. Woke at 5am to pack up our scooby-do mobile. :) Went to the IStay building where we were to return the van and meet the owner at 6:30 am and no show. Finally gave in turned on the cell phone and called him a call at 6:50 and got him out of bed. 5 min later a kafoogled terribly late business owner with hair all over the place and zipper undone. “ I am so sorry, I slept in”. We made it to the airport in record time .... 7am then waited... waited in line to give our baggage, waited in line to give our odd shaped bagggage then in line to the gate and then in line to the bus. ... read more
