Aboard the Erin Go Bragh sail boat, we anchor off the coast of Los Palominos to snorkle. It was a popular site, about one hour sail from the main island. Los Palominos is the island the luxury resort El Conquistador rents for its guests.... read more

FERRY RIDE TO CULEBRA With one car, we have to make two trips every place. (*Note: Get two cars next time because you can’t be without a car on Puerto Rico. Little is within walking distance.) The first group left at 7:30 p.m., and Clint was back for us by 7:50 a.m. We ran into some traffic on the way there, and it took 15 minutes to arrive at the port. We met the rest of the group at the bakery a block from where the ferry docks. Jenny had bought us all muffins for breakfast. We were about out of food at the villa and didn’t have time to make a fourth grocery store stop. She had purchased our ferry tickets the night before for the 9 a.m. ferry to Culebra. We waited inside for ... read more

Today we took it easy. Our last three days in Puerto Rico will be packed, so I wanted to make sure the baby got her rest today. We slept in, woke up slowly and then headed for Seven Seas Beach. ABOUT SEVEN SEAS BEACH The beach is open daily between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with lifeguards on duty. Mondays and Tuesdays during September to March the beach is closed (no lifeguards/facilities, but you can still use the beach). The main entrance is through the parking lot (cost $4/day), but we went the way the locals do: through a missing piece of fence at the corner. From Route 3 in Fajardo, take Route 194. After you pass El Conquistador Resort, 194 becomes Route 987. Continue on 987 until you see Seven Seas Beach on your left. ... read more

Hailed as one of the nicest beachest in Puerto Rico, Luquillo Beach is picture-perfect with tall, swaying palm trees and sugar-white sand. When you get hungry, head to one of the famous 50 Rum Shacks that line the beach on the west side. Beware the sand blowing in your face and clinging to everything when the Christmas winds come in December.... read more

Garret and TJ snorkle off of Seven Seas Beach in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, just off the coastline of Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve. At the nature reserve, visitors learn about the ecological importance of the mangrove forest, the offshore coral reefs, the sandy beach, the rocky coast and the bioluminescent Laguna Grande. The guys were thrilled about the variety of species they saw in the water while snorkling.... read more

THE BEACH Today we headed east to the point. I’m not sure if this beach is still called Seven Seas or not. It’s a very slim beach, with shrubs about 10 feet from the water. By later afternoon when we headed back the beach had gotten even slimmer because the tide came in. It’s also very soft. Just walking was an effort because your feet sink into the sand. Tip: Don’t bring a stroller. You can’t push it. Jesse and Clint resorted to carrying it. I was wishing for the sling to more easily carry the baby. She’s a wiggleworm. We were in search of coral to see while snorkling. There was plenty dotting the beach, but we had trouble finding much in the ocean itself. A few of the guys went farther east and found ... read more
