Hi there Leon, It wasn't that we didn't enjoy Pana so much, we loved the lake, and once we got away from the main drag, we enjoyed our time at the restaurants we went to lots. The hotel we were in was also very nice and relaxing. It was just very full on with touts along the main drag and you really do need to get away from that area to fully enjoy the place. Thanks for your comment, David

I FEEL SORRY FOR YOUALL
I¨'m sorry you didn´t enjoy Pana, is the town where I grew up, but I guess it was due to the lack of knowledge of the town itsel, there are a lot of streets on the sides of the town, that are not crowded, and have nice views of gardens, beautiful houses, and nice sights of hotels and the lake in itself.

Lucky indeed!
Hi Graham, really good to hear from you. Yep, we feel lucky as we pop round the world for a little jaunt. We have just arrived in Fiji today to a country of food, drink, friendliness and hot, hot weather. It's taken us a bit by surprise so we have to get used to the heat again after the relative coolness of NZ. WE must catch up when we get back to blighty in Sept. Take Care, David

Safe and Sound
Hi Tim, Good to hear from you. We are fine, on the other side of the island when the quake hit. We only found out about it a few days ago and it was quite shocking. We are having a good time, just away from PC's so much now that we haven't got time to blog, which is good as we're off doing stuff. Thanks for the concern. David

so...
...please tell us you weren't in your tent anywhere near Christchurch the other day? We were there 11 months ago, and looking at the pictures of the cathedral falling down has been quite upsetting. It's a nice town. Quite unsettling to punch in here to catch up on your travels and to see that this is your last entry... I hope you're just out in the Southern Alps somewhere away from the internet, but hoping you're both okay.

Shell Tassi
Hi George, Actually a lot of the campsites were quite windy as we were next to the sea or a lake and the wind did whip in, just like at Shell. It would've been great to have been there with the all of the Shell crowd as well and we did talk about how good that would be.

It could be Shell Island (sort of - if it was windy and in Wales!)

Great blog to read! Glad you like the coffee as I do. Not sure if you know the brand of the coffee, but I guess it should be TRUNG NGUYEN coffee, which is now becoming a famous brand. You can find this coffee in the UK, either from Vietnamese/Chinese shops or from the website. But still, TRUNG NGUYEN has different varieties too. If you are still in Vietnam, I would ask exactly what type of coffee you had. BTW, I am a Vietnamese, who had lived in the UK for one year and love the UK so much. I can also make real spring rolls (with the ingredients easily found in the UK), which all of my friends (including British ones of course) loved. If you wish to know how, I am happy to share the protocols.

Laos Border
Hi Natasha, We're really pleased that some of the things we have done and blogged about are helping other people. That is one of the reasons for doing it in the first place. We hope eveything has gone/goes smoothly for you with the border crossing. David and Suzane

Thank You!!
I'm in Chiang Khong right now and I was FREAKING OUT about not finding my way through Laos (accommodation, not getting boat tickets, etcetc) because lots of people (locals, travel agents, etc) kept telling me it would be impossible. Your blog filled me with hope and I won't buy a packaged trip now. Wish me luck!!

Glad to hear you both are ok - I was a bit worried when I saw the news!

Keep going on the blog - I am enjoying seeing the world second hand. You are cramming a lot in - are you managing to talk to anyone who is local, or are you moving on too fast for that?
