Beers, of and a few more beers Clive, I think we are starting to see what is really underpinning this cycle tour and that would appear to be drinking as much beer as possible in many different countries whilst in the company of beautiful women. I guess some things never change! Great blog, keep 'em coming.
Kayak, saunas, ghosts and a bike. Clive, Good to hear of your adventures - keep the dits coming. My life in a blue one seems dull compared with yours - not a mixed sauna or ghost in sight! Stay safe, Andy
Great pictures, sounds as though the trip has got of to a great start.
Glad the family is well, look forward to the next instalment.
best regards Paul, and should have gone with you North sea and channel has been bloody rough.
Questions about your trip... Clive , I am just back from 3 weeks in V hot & sunny Brazil and am now freezing reading your news ! ...you are SO intrepid !! What do you do with your bike and kit when you go sightseeing ?
Lunch time session.... and a pair of false teeth sounds right up my alley. Good to hear you are making good progress although hope the weather starts warming up for you soon. Currently in NZ and liking it....very passive travel compared to India but still a nice change of pace. Be well !
Soaring in your own sky/saddle! Hi Clive,
Following with interest from the start. Good to see how you are tapping into your historic
family roots - will give your energy and assurance in who you are for the adventure ahead.
Also good to see you released from the demands and responsibilities of the last couple of years. Free finally to soar in your own sky/saddle!
Look after yourself and keep the reports coming.
By the way, I am in Tbilisi at the moment, so if you get a spurt on you might catch me!
All the best,
Pete.
your travels Thank you so very much for sharing your journey as you go on your way, enjoying your adventure. It is so interesting keeping up to date with you. The photos are really great too! We do enjoy reading and the way you write is great! Hope you have a wonderful time with your reltives in Germany. Enjoy. Love Arman & Margaret
Well done and the best of luck Well done Clive - As the members of Dragoman trip WKZ(9-Dec-12) parted in Kathmandu at the end of Feb there was some comment and concern as to whether or not you would make your 1 March take-off date. Delighted to hear that you achieved it and the very best wishes for the journey - however you\'ve chosen a bad time for the weather, my teeth are chattering here in England (it was 35 deg when I left Bangkok last week) and the TV pictures of northern France looked grim last night. Have you solved the condensation problems when camping?
Take care and above all enjoy it - we will meet up somewhere / sometime along your route
cheers
Kit
PS You will have to sharpen up your photo-journalism skills as, for those of us less fortunate with mixed dorms, a picture of a naked Aussie girl might be a bit more interesting than a smiling Clive alongside another Dutch canal!
Belgian Beer Too right - the Belgians brew excellent beers, and to a much greater strength than we Brits are used to. Go carefully on that bike Sturdmeister!
Switzerland Hi Clive, just wondering whether we are on your list of countries. Just in case you need a comfy bed and a warm meal for a night. Steep hills though. Good luck Keith
Day of Leaving Hi Clive, It was a very emotional day for me. However I wish you the very best of luck on your trip.
I know it was always what you wanted so go for it. Love Dad

Lots of love and great experiences,
Aranka
Visiting Brussels? Clive, Have tried sending e-mail to you via Travel Blog...but this is "Belt and Braces" approach. Not sure if you are transiting Brussels in the coming week or so, but let me know if you want somewhere to lay your head for the night(s). Plenty of room for you and bike! Paul
Happy cycling from Hastings Hi Clive:
What a surprising Monday morning meeting! The very last thing I imagined I'd be doing as I gasped my way up Barley Lane in Hastings was that I'd meet someone setting off on the trip of a lifetime - cycling to New Zealand! (I suspect that equally, you weren't expecting to meet an out-of-shape Canadian riding a bike on a back lane in Hastings!) It was such a treat to share a short ride and hear a bit about your trip. Good luck and may your journey be full of many many more serendipitous connections! Sherry
Over 5 years have passed since I cycled around the UK and Ireland and the time has come to get back in the ol' saddle. This time I will attempt to initially make the shores of New Zealand, initially cycling through Europe to Istanbul, the gateway to Asia, before following the silk routes through Central Asia and China to the Far East. Following a flight or preferably a boat journey to Australia, I will attempt to cycle across the Nullabor from Perth to Sydney, before heading onwards to New Zealand. I look forward to sharing my journey with you.... full info
