In my humble opinion, the new seven wonders of the world are new seven stupidities beyond any understanding. Great work and great pictures:)

Just saw this post...
Glad to see these realisations are percolating down to the mainstream. Though disappointed more people didn't view it... This is a topic I've been passionate about for a few years now. For something a little harder check out Derrick Jensen or John Zerzan, or failing that, send me a PM!

Lester Brown
I just checked your reference/link on Lester Brown. It looks like he's got the answer to the global issues that humanity is facing today. His book seems like an interesting read. I'll definitely try to read it on my spare time....thanks ! Jo

Nice Blog !
It's good to read something insightful for a change. With all the scientific research and technological advancement, I'm optimistic that someday mankind will invent or discover other energy source that is clean, renewable, sustainable, that yield same power parallel to hydrocarbon-based fuels and has minimal/zero impact on our eco-system. There's definitely a huge problem with the world's current economic model which is base on capitalism and consumerism. I don't have the answers to global economic crisis, environmental, political and social issues. But I do know that balance and harmony is imperative in all aspects. Stop living in excess and adopt a sustainable way of life without destroying the environment. Like you, I probably also think too much and can keep going on and on, on what's wrong in the world...so I'm going to shut up now and leave you with your thoughts :)......cheers ! Jo

A lot on your mind lately!
I've been thinking a lot about similar dilemmas and problems. Some things that may skew the potentially gloomy outlook. The better educated and better resourced a population the more likely it is to have a stable or declining birth rate - look at the western European countries where growth is attributed to immigration. The US is reliant on imported fossil fuels - which are no longer necessarily cheap - this will provide the impetus for the development of technologies such as fuel cells and renewables. We probably will continue to have a hydrocarbon based economy for a long time - just the source of these will have to change - the energy carried in petrol is just immense. Totally agree that as a species we cannot continue our current consumption and expectations without devastating our planet leaving a nightmare world for our direct descendants.

Wow!
Thank you so much for the kind words. Northern california around Shasta is definitely underrated and extremely beautiful. So much lava and forest and volcanos you would think you are in chile! And no picture does Burney Falls justice. Look forward to seeing your travelblog of the area!

Inspiring Photos & Blog
These are some of the most beautiful photos I've seen of this area. I'm new to Nor Cal and a few years ago a friend took me to Burney Falls and around the Mt. Shasta are and I was blown away. I'm from the Yosemite area and some of this are is even more spectacular than Yosemite. I've been wanting to go back to the Burney are for quite some time now, and I just sent a link to your blog to a friend in my old Yosemite are and she's all charged up to visit, too.. so thanks for the inspiration, we're planning a trip for April!

Felicitaciones
