We took a train from Anchorage to Denali and saw the mountain without a cloud in the sky. Glad you had the opportunity to fly over and see it all.

Thanks a bunch!
Thanks so much for the comment. This is my first whack at doing a blog, and I tried to make it interesting for people who know nothing about the Iditarod. Sue

Food?
Hi Sue, Do the mushers carry all their food and equipment on the sled? or do they have support vehicles.

First Day at Anchorage Network Center
Hi Ben, They send supplies forward. If it's not all used at, for example checkpoint 1, they send it forward again. We actually had some issues with missing musher bags but we figured it all out. Sue

I set up the travel blog the day before I left. I'm glad people are enjoying it. Trying to keep warm. Was 18 degrees today but will be colder tomorrow!

Wow, great picuters and interesting story! Yup, -15° is cold! No doubt about it. You missed a very nice day in San Diego on Friday. It was sunny and about 72°. I Googled average temperatures for Anchorage and Fairbanks. I was surprised to find out that the average low for Dec, Jan, Feb, and Mar in Anchorage is above +10°F. I thought Anchorage would be colder. Apparently, Anchorage is warmed by the sea. For Fairbanks, the average low for the same months is -13 to -17°F.
