Plan? Whats the plan Shez? or lack of plan? :) Have you bought any tickets yet? Will you do a few preorganised things and leave the rest for while youre on the road?

Plan.... Hi Tam! Hope you're doing well. Being the grade A control freak that I am, ive actually drafted a whole intinerary! :-) we begin in China for a few days. What better way to begin our journey than to see one of the great wonders of the world!! (the Great Wall) then from there we'll get a flight to Bangkok & continue South East Asia from there. We can't book any flights however until house sale completes which should be the end of this month!!!
Greetings :) I love the air of anticipation in your blogs. I admire you for breaking the mould and deciding to get out there and live life the way YOU want to. It all might seem a little daunting at first, but after a while you will come to see travel as a way of life and wonder why everyone else isn't doing it. Anyway, I wish you both happy travels and look forward to more of your blogs! Nick :)
Don't Panic Don't panic, keep a clear head - you are only 24, you've got lots of time! Robert, my husband and I are inthe process of selling our home - we are oldies - in our sixties, and we would both like to travel a little bit but when I think of the future I only see a sort of vague splodgy scenario! We have been diy ing for 2 years now getting the house, shich is old and rural, in good repair - we have been here for 30 years and had our 4 children rampaging through rampaging through it and whenever had a lot of time with work etc to do the large jobs! However, now we have a For Sale sign up, but Robert has decided to try selling it himself, so I have to be patient, it may take some time! I can sympathise with your position, but I have found that life often puts a spanner in the works, so you have to adapt to each situation. Try asking your mum if youcan stay with her - although my children have left home now, we have provided an emergency refuge and repository, but they always do me the courtesy of asking first, even though they know I'll say yes, talk it all through with your mum, I'm sure it will be fine!
FFS!, that is a real pain in the bum, for you. Owning ones own home can be almost a burden sometimes. I have an appartment in Dublin that between tennant disasters, weird new surprise taxes, floods, security issues... I could fill a bunch of blogs on. Good luck with yours. :)
eeekkkk! I know when you go travelling and are making huge changes in your life anything out of the ordinary is pretty freaky. But if you rent its wonly a 70 pound loss a month...that would be better wouldnt it than the $000's if you sell? Plus the possibility of property market looking better in a few years when you return?
Eeeek indeed! We certainly did think about that. But I work in a real estate agent and I see the way tenants treat your home and things get broken and tenants can default on rent payments etc. We wouldnt have the money to cover those kind of what if's. Selling is our only option.
The plan is to sell as quickly as possible. Scotts parents have offered to take us in for a cheap £200 each per month meaning we'll make that money back in no time at all.
When we return, we're going to rent a room again and try and save an even bigger deposit for a bigger house. Although it's daunting to start from scratch, I think it could be really good for us in the long run.
Thanks so much! wish us luck! xx
Nice blogging Pleased you started blogging your ideas and thoughts. It's really interesting. Don't worry about the fear of the sea. I love looking at the sea, being near the sea and swimming in it but if I get deep and I can't touch the bottom I have a panic attack. Even if I'm wearing a snorkel so I can see there are no sharks. I'm pretty sure they creep up on you when you're not looking....
''...ah, you’ve wasted your life...'' There is no way you have wasted your life. The only thing I had done with my life by 24 to be proud of was travel. The rest involved things like dropping out of university, breaking relationships... You seem to have got everything right, at such a young age. I only started getting some of this stuff right, when I was more than 26 years old. :)
It can take a while to find your voice. Ok Shavonne, it sounds to me like you are in transition, you are at a cross roads. My belief is that you end up where you need to be and each decision you've made up to now has been the right one. I feel like you are experiencing some regret and my suggestion to you is don't spend the energy on that! Life is an experience and the experiences you have made up to now make you who you are. Don't wonder about why you didn't travel sooner.....be thankful you have decided to do it now. I'm 55 and have traveled for years but didn't take a real proper trip until I was 51. You are young compared to that. I did as my momma wanted. I went to school, got a good eduction, got a good job and saved money for my retirement. Yes, I wish I had done extensive travel sooner but the point is I am doing it now. My retirement is secure and I am out having the time of my life. We leave August 10th for another around the world trip. Hopefully, you will follow us and find some magical places that you will incorporate into your trip. Don't regret where you are. All those typing, organizing and faxing skills are going to come in very handy on the road. Those are skills that are needed in every country and many people do not have them. It will help you to keep your trip on the track that you want it on.
Learn to control your addictions Shavonne, I love where you are going with your blogs! Fantastic! The key is to control your travel addiction and not let it control you. You are on the right path.
Be true to yourself Decades ago, the desire to explore the world was so strong that I quit my job and went on a 12 month journey around Europe and Turkey. All of my family and the vast majority of my friends disagreed with this decision - I should use that saved money to buy a house instead. However, these naysayers had never truly experienced the freedom, adventure and discovery (of self, people and places) that travel can bring, so how they can provide such an opinion? In the end you must be true to yourself and not live according to the expectations of others. Don't regret too much about not travelling earlier, being older gives you a different (and I believe fuller) perspective during your travels.
Well, I'm 24 years old, married (young I know!lol), I have worked in property administration for about 6 years, home owner and feeling like a caged bird!lol.
I'm a bit of a hippie. Love taking in other cultures, meditation (Very hard, gave up a while ago but want to get back into it), I'm into energies and all that jazz, love music and while I'm not a curvey woman, I have a bewitching love for food! I also love writing, singing, art and meeting new people though I am a tad shy at times. ... full info
