Miss you! All our company is gone and it's so quiet, but now I have time to get to the computer and read your blog! Wow -- what a trip! Sounds wonderful and the pictures are beautiful! And of course a pink canopy is so you! Enjoy your last few days and tell Arantxa hello. The kitties greeted Granatee at the door today when she went to feed them. See you soon -- love ya!
Arequipe My granddaughter is currently in an orphanage in Arequipe, she is spending a year there before she goes to Uni. I see you enjoyed it and she says she does also. She doesn't write any more than you do, but it is not obligatory :-)
Nicola I tried to email you at the address on your comment, but it bounced back. I'd be happy to answer questions. Just email me at shaleaeggplant@hotmail.com
volunteering Hi shalea
I'm not sure if you still use this blog. i'm planning to volunteer at traveller not tourist in a month or two. do you mind if i ask you a couple of questions about it?
it would be great if you could help!
Nicola
Machu Picchu Thank you for writing about your trip to Machu Picchu - I am going next week with Llamapth and I enjoyed your detailed blog - I can't wait to get there !! Great photos !! One question - you were #401 to climb the smaller hill - How do I ensure I am #400 or less - do we run somewhere, is it a draw ? We want to climb the larger hill I think. How to beat the masses ? Is there a secret ?

Dad- you would love alll the crzy animals. They're none stop excitement and entertainment. I'll try to actually finish them this yeaar--miracles do happen.
Lurking in the Night I have really been enjoying your blogs and all the neat animals. Can't wait to go there. The zebra cricket doesn't look real. The night hike looks scary enough with the animals you saw but what scares me is what was lurking just beyond the light. Looking forward to the next installment. Love, Dad
Thanks for catching us up! Grandma and I are enjoying hearing about the trip! Sounds great - although I don't know if I'd be quite as enthusiastic about the creepy crawlies! We miss you!
Arequipa I know that your blog is quite old...but we were wondering where you stayed in Arequipa and what you did there. We are heading that way soon and would love to hear a personal account. Thanks!
You ladies are having such a great time! I am so jealous as everything you are telling brings back so many memories of my time in Spain in 1980! The horchata in Spain is so delicious I wish it was bottled so that you can bring me one! Thanks for sharing!
Auntie Jen- What can I say? Us Walkers like our food! I´ve been surprised by how much I´ve found to try and enjoy despite my restrictions. Arantxa´s family has been super awesome about helping me seek stuff out. The beach was sooo nice, I don´t usually laze around like that when I´m traveling, but boy did I enjoy it!
Dad-- I'm trying my best to at least get it up through the Choquequirao trek (that's next!) The weather changes the look of MP so much, especially in photos. Even throughout the day the changing clouds can make things look so different. I know everyone hopes for sun when they go, but when I look at other people's pictures I love the ones with fog hanging around the mountains close to the ruins.
Great to see it! It is great to see the blog being completed and the super photos of Machu Picchu. It is interesting how clouds and lighting can change the look of the photos.
oh for crying out loud! I see you every day, and now you're showing me pictures of you in another country? I'm very confused. And a little reluctant to get back into this. I'd just finished blocking out the 6 weeks you abandoned me.... :)
And she's back! Woo hoo! I am glad that you are not abandoning your journal. Quick, write it all down before you forget or lose initiative to do so! :D
That plant is really pretty, btw!
Which Orphanage? Hello, I am trying to find volunteering options in Arequipa. The orphanage you work in sounds like a good place. Which orphanage in Arequipa are you working at?
Thanks!
