The Dollinger's Inn is a sweet little hotel, very homey, though they do hold a strong belief in disposable tableware. Styrofoam plates, cups, bowls... anything that doesn't need to be washed. We had a breakfast of French Toast sticks, sausages (more like kebabs), bagels, cheese, the usual I guess. Except the kebabs. They'd go better on Yom Ha'atzmaut than breakfast. Anyway, the kids explored a bit outside while we got our baggage organized, and after seeing the frogs they found we all loaded up and went on our way. The rain started almost immediately and got progressively worse as the day wore on. So, we started out shopping at an outlet in Waterloo, and turned it into a day long shopping spree. My credit card hurts... Actually it wasn't that bad. We got raincoats we'll need ... read more

We're out of Toronto and on our way! The drive to Niagra Falls was easy and uneventful. The way it should be. We drove through the town of Niagra Falls (as opposed to Niagra On The Lake). Very touristy! We started at the main welcome center at Table Rock, just above the Horseshoe Falls. The weather was beautiful but every now and then the wind shifts a tiny bit and it's suddenly raining! You get sprayed just being there. Lots of people, of course, and lots of souvenir shops. Still, we enjoyed it! We started with the Fury of the Falls, a short 4D movie about the creation of the falls. They hand out blue disposable rain ponchos for the movie! We got snowed on (with foam and cold air), rained upon, and misted, bumped around ... read more

Our first morning in Canada. It took us forever to get organized and out of the hotel, but we finally made it. We drove downtown and went for a walk all around the center of Toronto. Roger Center, up John and then along Queen Street, through Eaton Center. A nice mall, but a mall. If you like window shopping this is a good place to go. We exited the mall to Trinity Square, where there was some sort of outdoor event, live rock by the Luke Austin Band (very good, apparently their first album will be out soon), used book sales and giant board games. We got a couple hotdogs from a street vendor (ya gotta do that once, right?), and heard some jazz outside City Hall. We saw squirrels at Osgoode hall to the kids' ... read more

Our adventure started at home, believe it or not. I ordered a taxi for ridiculously early in the morning. The guy arrived on time, but the car was a little bit small. We all sat with our baggage piled up on us all the way to the airport. I think the driver had a good laugh. Airports are always fun. If you're masochistic. But we got through it OK and boarded our flight. It was a long flight to CDG, Paris, but not too bad. And the stopover in Paris was short and sweet. Well, not so sweet, but we'd only discover that later... We boarded our Boeing 747 to Toronto. The kids were duly impressed by the sheer size of the thing. That flight was even longer but the kids enjoyed it more, Each seat ... read more
