Guess they were double booked. Can't believe your trip is half way through. Saw a film yesterday on G islands it looks fabulous. Remember to phone K next Sunday. J

Missing Friend - Torres del Paine/El Calafate hi
A good friend of mine, Ronan Lawlor from Ireland, is missing in southern chile/argentina. The last known whereabouts we have for him are torres del paine around Nov 18th. His rucksack was found in the America del Sur hostel in El Calafate. Ronan was due to collect his rucksack after 3 days trekking in the Torres del Paine on November 20th. If you have met Ronan on your travels or have any information please contact his family who are desperately worried at inforonan@gmail.com
A website has also been setup http:www.ronanlawlor.org which is being kept uptodate with information from the local authorities as well as the Irish Embassy in Buenos Aires
Many Thanks,
Lisa
Photos Regarding the various photos of the indigenous people in their traditional attire, there were so many other people around they didn´t notice that I was taking photos. I think they would have been embarassed if I had asked their permission, and if they did accept, it would have been difficult to get a natural pose.
Great photos!!! What were the attitudes towards taking pictures in the city? obviously the soldier wasn't so keen :) . . . but how did peopel respond to you taking pictures?
Flying into Chile Lynae
It´s always cheaper to book your internal flights as part of an air pass before you travel. Contact the airline you´re traveling with and they will advise you.
Joe
Flying Hey, my name is Lynae and a friend and I are traveling to Chile for three weeks at the end of the month. I've been trying (and not succeeding) to find out whether or not I should book our tickets for our in-country flights now or if its not that big of a hassle to do it while we are down there. What did you do? Any tips or information would be great. Thanks!

love all in lisanisk
catch up it easy to get distracted (and jealous) by the daily blogs at work so i've decided to check it once per week. This way i get a good story and don't spend 30 mins afterwards sitting in work thinking - why am i not out there?
brazil seems interesting, but not as picturesque as i thought. i guess i'm probably more into the coastal towns and islands where the picture postcard diving would be my kind of thing.
i must admit i'm impressed with your self discipline on these updated blogs. I'd have thought that the effort would have dwindled by this stage but it hasn't. It's also a good thing as i know if they come to a sudden stop, something is up and i have a fear in the back of my mind i'd be runing round irish bars in argentina with a dodgy picture of you saying - have you seen this guy recently?
the map functionon some of your recent blogs is also quite good so keep that up. I expect back at the school the teachers are talking the kids through your progress which i'm sure is ver educational to them.
Here i'm having a much needed weekedn off - no serious partying or rushing around to visit people, just chilling in manchester, catchin up on normal household jobs, which as i glace at my todo list is actually about 20 items long.
we're sorting a few things for the wedding this weekend - a trip to a wedding show last month shows there is much to sort out and the cost is more like £20k rather than the £15k i originally hoped it would cost. We've sorted a saving plan adn we're on track.
Business in this last week was tough, i sacked colette on the based of consistent underperformance. Not the first time i've done it but this was was difficult as she pleaded with me for a long time about how hard she's trying, which is true but results are far short of what i need.
can't wait for a holiday this xmas when i'm right up for a week in ireland from 20th dec to 27th.
anyway, keep up the blogs and if you fancy writing anything less formal for others not to see email me direct.
ps the haircut shorted has taken years off you!
love robX
Joe,
I hope you´re enjoying the rest of your trip. I´ve already seen the photos. They´re absolutely fantastic. I laughed at the one I´m with the armadillo. It´s really funny. The trip was amazing.
I´m pleased to know that you liked Neuquen. However, you should have visited some southern villages of the province which are filled with fantastic landscapes -really high mountains and crystal water lakes-.
I hope we keep in touch.
Agustin (or simply Austin!)

Retired Headteacher of a London school, who, since the autumn of 2007 has travelled the countries of S. America - with the exception of the Guianas (Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana). The first trip began in September 2007 and covered Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru; it ended in mid December with two of those months spent in Brazil and Argentina - the two largest countries. The second trip (March 1 - April 17 2009) was shorter - seven weeks- starting in Venezuela and continuing into Colombia and Ecuador, including the Galapagos Islands.
