American, born just outside Valley Forge, PA.
My mother was German, my father Ukraine. My young friend who just graduated from Lowell High School is off to Europe. Since I already live in a great city, I decided to virtual blog. You can also follow me @SFAuGrrl. "Au" is the chemical symbol for gold. My first adventure will be exploring the Russian community in San Francisco. Can you guess my avatar's name? She was the first Russian woman of common birth to be awarded the Gold Medal for Zeal. A counterpart to Florence Nightingale, you might say.

At the battle of Alma, many Russian soldiers were left for dead. She stole her possession to buy a cart and supplies to help them.

I was so inspired by Pope Francis and his prayer meeting, I decide to learn more about Mother Russia. If I'm really brave, I might even visit Sudan or Northern Nigeria. How are the girls doing?
