We traveled from Glenwood Springs to Colorado Springs today. We had rain most of the way and then discovered Colorado Springs had flooding in spots. We spent the afternoon hanging out with Jill and John checking out Campingworld and their RVs.... read more

It was a quick 100 miles from Craig to Glenwood Springs today. Our intent was to get here early and hit the Hot Springs to soak our tired bodies. There are 365 days in the year and today was the day they decided to do "maintenance" on the hot springs pools. What a total bummer. At least we got our truck washed, checked out some of the town and had a great dinner at an Asian restaurant. The icing on the cake was the double rainbows that came over our camp this evening. Colorado is the perfect place to see rainbows and this one was bright as ever. Very neat... Thanks Colorado for showing us such great colors...... read more

Today was a long drive (over 400 miles) from Grand Teton Ntl Park to Craig, CO. We will over night here and head to Glenwood Springs, CO in the morning. We plan to spend the night there so we can go to the hot springs and soak in the wonderful hot water. It's been awhile since I have posted to the blog because we did not have Wi-Fi in either Yellowstone or Grand Teton Ntl Parks. I hope this gets me caught up...... read more

It was a short 61 mile drive from Yellowstone to Colter Bay in the Grand Tetons National Park. We had hoped to see some wildlife on the way, but there was absolutely nothing to see along the road. After we set up camp we headed out to explore the Tetons. It was overcast most of the day but the Teton Mountains were still beautiful. We stopped at several turnouts to take pictures before we reached Jenny Lake. It was a gorgeous lake and river that flowed from it. Next we headed down to Teton Village. This is a big ski resort in the winter. We took the tram to the top of the mountain where the temperature dropped 20 degrees. After checking out the top and having some hot beverages to warm up we headed back ... read more

With only one more day in Yellowstone we decided we better head up to the upper western part of the park. Mammoth Hot Springs was simply remarkable and the pictures will speak for themselves. After Mammoth Hot Springs we went out the north entrance and into Gardner, Montana for lunch. Coming back into the park was neat because of the famous archway. We headed back down south again hoping to see some kind of wildlife besides buffalo. Finally along side the road were a huge herd of elk. When we stopped at the Mammoth Springs visitor center they had said there was a herd in the area. Sure enough there they were hanging out along the road. When we went back into Mammoth Springs there were even elk in town wondering around. Further down the road ... read more

Today we took a boat cruise on the Yellowstone Lake. The lake is 131 square miles so even though we were on the water an hour we saw only a part of it. We circled Stevenson Island where some animals adventure to in the winter (they walk on the ice). Sometimes they don't come back across soon enough so they get stuck on it all summer. We cruised by the Yellowstone Hotel and saw several buildings that were built in 1926, including the hotel itself. As you can see from the pictures the hotel is even painted yellow. We then drove around for awhile hoping to we might see some wildlife, but that was a bust.... read more

After walking and sightseeing for the last two days we decided we needed a break in the action. In between doing our weekly laundry we all took a bike ride around the campgrounds. The 65 degree weather made it perfect to ride in. After the laundry was done we played a card game called three. Thanks Jon & Joyce for teaching us the game. Then we all hooped on our bikes and rode down to the Village for lunch. We figured the ride down and back knocked off about 1/2 of our calories from lunch. This evening we took off for Lamar Valley where we were told we should be able to see some wildlife. There are definitely ALOT of buffalo in Yellowstone since that was mainly all we saw. We did get a glimpse of ... read more

Today we hit the sights on the upper half of the lower loop. It was a day full of awesome sights. The biggest sight was the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. The waterfalls and rock colors were simply amazing. Again, the pictures will tell the story.... read more

Yellowstone has two large loops you travel on to see the whole park. Today we accomplished seeing what was on the lower half of the lower loop. Old Faithful was on this part of the loop and as usual she blew very nicely for us. After our day full of sightseeing we came back and had a great steak BBQ. Of course, we also had to have our smores. I will let the pictures show you where we went and what we saw.... read more

Our friends, Jill and John met us in Cody this morning and we all to the east entrance to Yellowstone National Park. On the way we stopped at the Cody Dam which looks like a miniature Hoover Dam. We are staying at a place called Fishing Bridge RV and it's the only campground in Yellowstone that has full hooks ups. We found out our neighbor, Dan, helped build this campground back in the 60's. It's a small world sometimes.... read more
