Last point of contact was Zanzibar. We drove south west from there into Malawi which we hugged the lake for a number of hours south. We spent one night at Chitimba, a simple camping ground on the shores of Lake Malawi. It was a really mind blowing experience in the markets outside the camping ground as there were a huge range of wooden carvings, chairs, paintings, bowls - yet they were willing to trade these goods for anything - batteries, shoes, trousers, shampoo, pens, socks - so getting into the spirit we took a few of our remaining things that haven't been stolen, burnt or lost and went to work driving a hard bargain!!
